Are you planning a fitness based New Years resolution? Starting Your 16 week preparation plan for the London Marathon?

This might be right up your alley...

The Tomtom Runner 2 cardio + music is a GPS watch with a wrist based heart sensor and a bluetooth enabled music player. I bought one of these a little over a year ago (couldn't justify the much more expensive Garmin) and really appreciated the little fella on my wrist. Once you get the idea of keeping the gps fix updated, it locks onto the signals quickly and I cannot recall it losing the satellite once (mainly city based running)

This looks to be an excellent price for the cardio + music edition. Direct price comparisons are not helpful (amazon has it for £200) as it's been superseded by the runner 3 which comes in at around £150. In terms of the difference between the runner 2 and 3. I understand the main difference is that the runner 3 can have a route (magnetic only, not turn by turn) added which it can then help you follow).

The deal expires at the end of this year.

FAQ (partially based on previous GPS watch deals):-

- Why don't you just use your phone?
  • It's WAY lighter and less clunky
  • It's there on your wrist, no taking it out to start / stop / see your stats
  • On your longer runs the battery won't last on a phone with full GPS, a run tracker+ bluetooth

- Why not just use a stopwatch? You know how far you've been, just time yourself.
  • Having on-run pointers that you need to speed up / slow down from your target pace is invaluable. Especially if you are trying for a bit of speed training.
  • Sometimes you take a new route (or a wrong turn).
  • It's a new gadget with new things to focus on, who doesn't love a new gadget?

- What about the Garmin, it's much better.
  • Probably, but even the cheaper models are 2-3x the price and they don't have music built in.
  • I do a lot of running with someone who has a Garmin and by the end of the run they are normally 1-2% different (neither consistently more or less).

Good price but only small ones left now

Good spot!

For reference, small straps are for wrists measuring 121-175mm and large are for 143-206mm.

I have the large strap, but have it done up on the 2nd or 3rd hole. Obviously I have T-rex like tiny wrists!
Gutted large is out. Just what I was looking for. Good find though.

Not sure if you want to take the risk, but ebay has replacement straps for this starting at 4 quid odd (I assume those ones are from china).

Even if you get a UK based one, it's still the cheapest way to get music + HR...
Good price, but I can't seem to add this to my basket. I can add other items okay but not this one. I wonder if they have sold out.

Is anyone able to successfully add this item to their basket?

Mega hot. Paid about 90 for this 6 months ago and thought it was a good deal. I have the small strap and that is almost all the way. I do have little wrists, but I'm sure the small would fit most people. Remember the only difference is the strap..the unit itself is the same and you can buy replacement straps.
Hmm can't add to the basket may be ooS.. not sure
Don’t worry about the size you can buy the strap pretty cheap on amazon.£8.99 took 2 weeks to come but it’s ok.

Just a heads up that Tomtom are thinking of pulling out of the fitness trackers and watches market - no idea how it effects current users with support etc

No, I'm having the same problem. Must be sold out.
Just sent my tom tom back to Argos (eBay) , only bought it in August, had to do a factory reset about a month ago due to battery draining very quickly (after an update) , and this week the screen turned blank (white screen) and fails to reset when attempted.
i think my replacement will be a Garmin
