Waste of money. Just load Waze on your smartphone. Includes free traffic.

Or load Google maps with offline maps download.

Or use a road atlas, or road signs, or a compas

No I would not use a road atlas. Very confusing and long journey back on the motorway if you miss a turn. Tom Tom came about just to get rid of them.

Or navigate using the stars and a sextant.

Waze? Too many privacy issues.

I use Google Maps on a burner phone for my satnav, and a good Road Atlas when I want context. (_;)

Or use Navmii

"Eg Smart 25 now £74.99" ...£72 at Currys with full Europe maps. Most Tomtom sat navs are cheaper at Currys anyway...

I love Waze so far it's been brilliant always directs you shortest route also avoids traffic.

I use TomTom Go on my phone. £14.99 a year, includes map updates and traffic. Bit of a battery killer though

Even better, don't drive unless you really have to and let those of us that drive as part of our job have the roads to ourselves.
Many thanks

I have the tomtom go and find it always loses charge within minutes and struggles to find locations quick enough if at all. Google Maps on the other hand makes a better satnav than an actual satnav!

Tom Tom is dead in the water ... as is Garmin ... the smartphone is king now, free traffic as well (Tom Tom want £50 a year for that!!!)

Yeah good luck driving you Europe on phone's sat nav or on a very busy junction in town that is new to you and you get a phone call in and your directions will disappear of the mobile screen. If you do some serious driving phone is not a good idea to be used as satnav maybe as a backup.

Old Samsung phone with data only sim dose me as a sat nav. Currently using Vodafone free 200mb per month sim. Google maps is the best I find.

Just received an email from tomtom saying our 2 devices with updates for life will no longer receive updates.
Eff tomtom. Don't buy.

Lifetime updates sounds very attractive unless you look at the small print and see TomTom definition of lifetime means however long we want it to be "Lifetime is the useful life of the device, which means the period of time that TomTom continues to support your device with software updates, services, content or accessories. A device will have reached the end of its life when none of these are available any more."

I got this email but it was for an older satnav I had (TomTom xl) It said map updates would be too big for it unless it had card storage.
I personally like a TomTom instead of a phone. I've got enough things running my battery down and taking up space.
