Spotted in Sainsburys Northampton, seems very cheap.

Probably store specific but didn't appear to be a clearance deal.

Tomtom start... 20 40 or 60?

Original Poster

None of those, the original one with 3.5" screen.

As soon as I figure out how to upload an image from mobile I'll post a pic of the unit and price.

doubt it, just pot luck more like it

Co Pilot on iphone / android is only £25. 99p screen mount from ebay and you always have your sat nav with you wherever you go.

Much better than this imo

Only one left in derby

If you happen to have an iphone worth £400 + £25 for the software and 99p for the mount.
I think I know which one I would go for......(_;)

I used the "up to date" europe maps fro my co pilot recently. Ended up following my friend with his Tomtom as mine didn't have a clue where it was half the time. Tomtom is much easier to use, with better planning features.

Will give it a go, thanks.

not going back to look, looked for the dvd and blu ray deals yesterday at holywood exchange and got nothing but heat added

Try navfree world app on your android, it's free and works pretty well. No data connection needed and has lots of countries too.

Can you put the custom poi's on this like the speed camera database from Pocketgps.com??

I really wouldn't recommend this device - it will drive you mad! I bought one for by girlfriend over a year ago.

Pros:
- Good guidance

Cons:
- Very slow and inaccurate touch response - 2-3 seconds per letter typed when searching for a destination
- Slow route planning and only warns of toll roads right at the end - meaning you have to wait again to re-plan
- EU version is shipped with less storage that required for the latest maps!! - when you update you have to select a sub-section of EU maps to fit - defeating the point!

I use CoPilot on my iPhone instead which is outstanding - fast, responsive and reliable.

Which Derby store?

My one warns me of toll roads before I start my journey. Therefore you can decide whether you want to go through the toll road or use a different route without toll roads.

Are these the same as the ones they had on sale a few years ago in the orange boxes, remember those? Still use mine today, as does mum!

£129.99 at our local store, so probably store specific.

which northampton store was it?? as ive just checked with sixfields and they don't sell it?!

Sat Nav on your phone for little local trips is fine. Often I had to rely on Co-Pilot to cover the last 5 miles as the car couldn't handle full postcode searches..

However travel long distance and battery becomes a consideration as does trying to take/make calls at the same time.
Whilst these are surmountable I decided keeping a simple sat nav in the glove box was a simpler solution for me.

The phone still remains a backup..

Don't blame the software for what is more likely a problem with your phones GPS system.
CoPilot works fine for me (HTC Evo 3D).

Yes you can,but an easy minor hack is needed.(all on PocketGPSWorld.com)
Been using mine for about a couple of years and works great.(Used for work everyday)

Save your money, tomtom maps are useless.

They just released the new maps today for the iPhone app that I wasted money on and the A46 Dualing from Newark to Widmerpool is still not on the maps despite it being open for 9 months. Cold

The new road was on Waze (which is free) after a week.

I use Tomtom on my iPhone. Performance compared with my 940 is night and day. Tomtom's own devices use very feeble processors. A pain if you come up against traffic and need to reroute in a hurry.

The lack of storage is another bugbear. On the first update on my 940, I had to remove the US maps because there was no room for them. Even back then, it would have cost TT pennies to stick another GB of memory in their top end devices, but they cheapened out.

Presumably instore only, possibly store-specific. The link isn't mine - think it was added automatically or by a mod. I couldn't find it on their website either.

I tried Navfree for a month, probably the worst SatNav I ever used, 40 mile diversions were commonplace for no good reason at all. Removed from Android device, shame TomTom isn't on Android, they really do make the best mapping and nav software.

Alternatively use a free app called Waze. Never had a problem with it.

Who is going to waste £400 on an old technology iPhone ?
Anybody with half a brain would have a Samsung Galaxy S3, that spanks any iPhone in every department.

Can you put co-pilot on the S3 ?

Ignore the recommendations for Waze, it's awful! Decided to route me through a housing estate with 20mph zones and speed humps for 3 miles, just because it was 200yds shorter than the 70mph dual carriageway round the edge!

TomTom is still king - don't blame them for map issues, pretty sure all the major SatNav providers acquire their maps from the same sources?

Anyone that uses sat nav for work on a daily basis, such as myself, and needs their phone free for other tasks will favour tom tom.

Hot if you can get it, i'll have a look tomorrow.

Would love to see a TomTom Live Sat Nav on a deal soon, the Live really makes a difference!

Tomtom on iPhone is absolutely crap, I ended up going in circles using it. Co-pilot probably isn't much better, since they both work over 3g.

Just use google maps

Has anyone used sygic on android? had the trial version a while back all good except could not get full postcode search to work.
