these do seem to be coming down in price recently. Currently a good price for the 5" screen, but i am struggling to justify this one over the 4.3" for £139.99 also at amazon. Any idea if they are planing on releasing yet another newer version anytime soon? Having said that, I am sure someone gave justified advice on here a while back about going for the base model and upgrading the software somehow. Heat added either way as it is a good saving

good deal, but i would go for the cheaper model 4.3 screen as poster above mentioned and update the software there are plenty of sites offering advice on this. I have a tomtom 720 and its all updated to latest maps ect works fine, i just need to replace the inner battery as doesnt hold charge for long now anyone know where they can be found?

I have an old TomTom One XL, is it possible to upgrade the software to get the advanced lane guidance as shown in the pic?

I just bought a new battery for my TomTom 910 Go from speedydelivery.co.uk ; they seem to stock batteries for most TomTom models there.

I think so, but you will need to hack it

I am not sure this has an SD card slot. If not then I would prefer the GO 630 offer in Currys and PC World as you can install bigger maps and additional maps on the SD card as well as more POIs and voices. The GO 630 also has bluetooth and is an excellent piece of kit (only has FM transmitter missing I think, which this one does not appear to have either).

of course... if you know what you are doing.

When you guys are changing the maps and software on the smaller models you are just doing it on the sly right? will you still get the IQ routes functions and traffic etc?

Some of the more basic units can do if the hardware supports these functions but also if they can accept installing a newer version of the Navcore (operating system) that would obviously need to be modified to be able to run on older units. If the special edition navcore can be installed and the hardware can support these functions then yes you could get your IQ routes and lane guidance working.

i bought this model earlier this year (for half the price) in the US. FANTASTIC unit. only complaint is that it does not do auto zoom - you have to manually control the zoom which is a pain in the ass.

Just bought a refurbished 930 with latest maps, bluetooth, fm transmiter etc.....for £169.99 direct from Tom Tom outlet, they have other models available right down to the basis models.

Just for info the Tom Tom outlet store is here:-
