Great tv. Bought this last month from Costco for £1500. Knew I should have held off.
This is an amazing price for this tv 🔥
Is there much difference between this and the ag9, I see that's also been slightly reduced in price
Do I get this or wait and see if the B9 or C9 are reduced closer to Black Friday

My thoughts exactly. This or the C9? This is a great price though...
JL have a 35 day return policy so I’m thinking I’ll get this but leave it boxed and return if anything better comes up
I got this last week i think i can get the difference back from JL. Id get the C9 if you use for gaming

Any idea we can return the item after claiming the price match difference? Of course in boxed condition..

What’s Android OS like these days? That was what put me off 2 years ago from getting the Sony A1.

I've seen these two closeup in store and it was very hard to tell the difference between the two.
The C9 looked slightly brighter but the sound on the Sony was great.

I'm asking the same question myself... looking at the specs it seems like the C9 has HDMI 2.1, VRR and Airplay 2 when the Sony TV doesn't. I'm really on the fence cause I have a Sony Tv today and I LOVE the Sony picture quality! I'm still trying to find a review that compares these two tvs!

Same challenge here - love the native Android TV on the Sony but need the eARC connection

In the hope the 65'' C9 will drop to around £1500 at the end of the month

That's correct non of the Sony TV's have HDMI 2.1 features other than eArc. The LG will be getting Apple Airplay support at some point in the future, the Sony AG8 will not. I believe the only Sony OLED TV that will be getting this is the AG9. However the Sony has better picture upscaling and sound compared to the LG. I agree it is a very difficult choice to make if you are a gamer especially and use an iOS device.

The AG8's have the old MediaTek MT5891 powering Android, while the AG9's have the MediaTek MT5893 which makes Android zippy out of the box.

However follow this tutorial and Android TV runs very well even on the old MediaTek processors:
Having owned Panasonic, Samsung and Sony, the Android TV is the best smart platform for myself in my experience, only let down by poor hardware from Sony. Though they are packing the better processors in the 2019 OLED TVs now. The video above helped me massively.
Anyone considering getting a next gen console, go for the LG 9 series.

Rting.com has the C9 edging the A8G in nearly all areas. I plan on pairing mine with a decent soundbar set up so the difference in built in speakers doesn't matter too much to me. Personally I prefer the OS on LG so that combined with what you've said means it's going to be the C9 for me.

Variable refresh and auto low latency mode, I would guess.

I could probably live without either in favour of getting the Sony. The motion is just so good on Sonys - that's what stops me looking at the LGs.

Rtings gave the C9 a higher rating on Sports which is where motion matters most

Not just sports.

For example, you might want to enable BFI for 24fps content to reduce stutter. According to Rtings, on the C9 "enabling this option will cause judder when playing back 24p content".

For Sports, you would want to enable motion interpolation. This can introduce soap opera effect, which Sonys are very good at suppressing, not that it's such a big issue for Sports.

Simply put, it's not a particularly straightforward subject, as there are lots of variables and there's more to motion handling than a TV just being good at fast paced high FPS content.

I think people need to remember comparing to the C9 shouldnt surprise the C9 could be superior! The C9 is a 2019 model, this Song is an AG8, which is 2018.

Either compare B8/C8 to the AG8 or... B9/C9 to the AG9.

Pretty sure the AG8 is a 2019 model. The AF8 and AF9 were 2018's.
