well - the heat doesn't matter a jot to me & I doubt whether it does to the Aug 15th OP or to many others here who regularly post deals, otherwise we'd be a bit more circumspect about only posting certain deals...

check out my cold deals record

just trying to help a few bods who don't have the free fiver yet

We have until 31st October, hardly last chance is it

but I did find it by myself - I was away on my hols on 15th Aug & never saw that deal - this morning I used it for the first time on my daughter's a/c and just thought: I wonder if that's been posted on HUKD? so did a search - hey presto it was eons ago - at any rate over a month ago - so fair game to remind people of it - OP doesn't need a credit as they weren't involved in this process

I generally check for duplicates before posting, same as I saw the Marriage Allowance story in the Independent this morning, thought ye gods that's a lot of money going unclaimed - £615 per couple for some - & did a check, saw it had been posted in Sept so just added a note to the Independent story instead of repeat posting

Got loads to buy so free money will be welcome.

If you add £20 and receive the £5 credit, can you then buy a £25 Amazon giftcard and pass it on to someone else?
TIA

Do Amazon limit the amount of times one customer can earn a free fiver per account using this £20 top-up method?

with a printed barcode? no different to paying your council tax or gas/ elec bill, just a barcode scan involved

I’ve been in a few local Shops with Paypoint tills. None of them were able to scan the barcode on my phone and none of them knew anything about the Amazon Top Up scheme.

I also had a problem topping up in store. as somebody else pointed out I did ask one of the shop assistants to go to paypoint menu and look for Amazon top up section .eventually after few tries they managed to offer me a receipt with a code .The voucher on my mobile phone would not scan ,no matter how many times they tried in different locations. I entered on Amazon website and the code was accepted and the £5 were added to my account within minutes.
Not an easy way to get the 5 pounds.

I use my local Sainsbury's Local and no fees to pay.
I originally started to pay my Council Tax there as I get 1% back from Amex, paying with their credit card. It all helps going towards the Amex £25 fee.

Well I'd just like to add my thanks. Activated the promo fiver on my prime a/c when it was first posted. This post made me remember about an a/c the OH has but never uses as it's not prime. Thought I might as well top up the a/c with £20 to get this. I'm sure, with the impending annual spendfest drawing ever nearer, we can use it up with a non-urgent buy.

but both you and Smag are expecting the store to be able to scan your mobile phone barcode

I printed it off and it scanned fine & transaction processed in 20 seconds

I don't think the Paypoint scanners are set up to (easily) scan phone barcodes, that's all - I guess all other barcodes that use Paypoint are printed, eg bills & council tax - so do yourself a favour and print it at home, would be my advice

otherwise you're blaming the system when YOU ARE THE PROBLEM!

True. I never used paypoint till now.
Did not realised how it works.
Now it makes sense.
Thank you!

Put the screen brightness on your phone to full and it should be able to scan it

Do you login to your account at the paypoint or something then?
Or is all the relevant information held within the barcode?

Definitely worthy of the repost! Heat added

If they can't scan your phone, just ask them for an Amazon top up via the PayPoint machine. It's on all of them but many don't realise as it's a new thing. They'll print off a code for you and then just get onto Amazon chat to get your free £5 added if it doesn't automatically.

Credit really not needed, Get off his/her back!

Thanks OP hot.

I never saw the previous deal. Ignore those idiots who are talking about stealing someone else's deal. You helped me. So that's one deal I would not have seen.
Will I do this? Doubt it, seems a bit long for £5.
Thanks again.

I went to two local paypoints (one was Asda) and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about and kept pointing at the gift cards. Eventually contacted Amazon who gave me £5 for topping up £20

Edited by: "loadsavmoney" 23rd Sep

Hi everyone
I just did but it's not showing in my account .it just shows the actual £20 that I top up.
Any idea please.

Okay I know I sound really thick but how do I do this?

I did this when it was originally posted. Used a local shop and scanned from my mobile no problem. Then again, I have a Samsung S8 so maybe a better phone than most of you...

Try adding something sold and despatched by Amazon and see if it's applied then

Who do you think you are calling me an idiot? Grow up.

How comes
I even phoned amazon customer services ,answered lot of nonesens questions, like where did you here about the promotion,....
but she said the promotion its not from amazon.

Im confused - even though Ive just watched the video on how its supposed to work!!
I get the bit where you top up a giftcard - and then I guess you use the code on that giftcard when at the checkout page on the website, but why??
Surely its a lot easier just to pay via debit card instead of all the running around converting one form of credit to another
