why cold ?

looks like a decent pair for the upcoming flamedeer season.

Good price but would really be suitable only in bright light.

What would you recommend in terms of some compact binoculars? Preferably <£20

These are really good if you're prepared to splash £50 for a quality pair, otherwise the ones in this post look good for the money. The more expensive ones will obviously have better optics.

These are pretty bad. At least this particular listing has them as "8x21" which is about what they are, when other listings have the identical set as "30x60". The main problem is that instead of ANTI-reflection coating to improve light transmission it has a red/orange reflective "coating" that would be fine for sunglasses, but does the exact opposite than what you'd want in binoculars, giving you a dark bluish image. If you REALLY want them, try to find a listing where they don't have this fake coating, or at least get them on a cheaper listing (they are currently listed at under £5 if you search for "30x60" - even though they are still the same 8x21). I actually purchased 3 popular Amazon binoculars to test them out, you can see the (not very good) results here: astro.ecuadors.net/ama…re/ including what you can see using this particular set (a version marked as "30*60" to be exact).
