Hmm, my AOA110 has a 1.8" PATA SSD. Nice if it was a replacement for that. Moving parts tend not to be so efficient below a certain scale. 1.8" is probably fine, I believe iPods used/use them. Good USB stick substitute.

Good price for a premium drive and enclosure.
Impressive build (looks like the executive toy it is)
Small form factors, nice soft carry case.
Ideal for travelling.
Disk I/O is ok not the cheapest cost per MB but a nice addition.

FYI the case is not all metal. It is plastic with 2 metal plates top and bottom. So it looks very fancy see previous posts for the 160gb model but sqqezing the case you can hear the plastic substrcture creek. Not a deal breaker this is not sold as rugidised drive just a fancy looking small form factor device with a top end HDD.

Good for those who want or need a portable HDD which is quite "pocketable". Of course one expects to pay more for this than a "normal" 2.5" portable HDD.

Correct me if i'm wrong but this drive could be used to upgrade/repair or replace an ipod classic hard drive, might be tempted to swap out this drive with my 80gb ipod classic hard drive, so i end up with a 120gb ipod classic and a 80gb external hard drive mmmmmm.

My biggest gripe with the portability of 2.5" USB hdd's is that you have to unplug the cable when travelling and this can lead to wearing the port out. This doesn't really solve that, it'd be nice to see the newer (micro I think) USB ports that Kindle uses as the wire is designed to wear out first on those.

I don't think iPods use SATA drives.

I wonder when they will release a USB 3.0 version.

If this is a 1.8" PATA/ZIF Connector drive, this is going to be very very hot, 120GB for that seem to go around £70 - £100

Can anyone confirm that?

I also have AcerAspireOne and I could do with a replacement!

Ahh sorry just read the description
