No these are 12.5mm too big for most laptops / PS3 as regular size is 9.5mm. OK for unibody Macbooks

oh! I'll have to look elsewhere for PS3 then, any suggestions? (1tb preferably and around sameprice)?

Blimey I looked at this and then realised this is a 2.5" drive!!

Have some heat! Good point about Ebuyer chose 5 day super saver for free P&P also

the phat ps3 will need modifying for this to fit. they only take 9.5 drives too. but this can be squeezed in

Yep a simple mod to the caddy on the PS3 and this will fit - takes about 5 mins ;-)

by modifying it does that mean i could use a 3.5 inch HDD instead? as they are considerably cheaper?

A word of warning to anyone upgrading their PS3 HDD, with the firmware 3.56 update users trying to upgrade their HDD quite simply can't, when you come to connect a USB drive with the firmware update in the PS3 / UPDATE folder you get a data corrupt error.

If you have 3.55 stick to that and do not upgrade for now, wait until Sony release a fix.

ps. guess what I spent my Sunday morning doing

Have had two toshiba hard drives in the past. Both failed in month 13.
May have been a bad model, but I'd always be inclined to wait for a Western Digital or Seagate equivalent...

it is great with an ext hdd case

This would be perfect for my Jtag.
Still got around 160GB/298GB Free, so gonna hold off for a while yet.

Maybe Sony are doing everything they can to *try* & stop people updating via USB - what with all the Jailbreaking & discovery of private keys

I have three of these racked up in a home server and can't complain. They're cheaper than the SAS versions and don't take up much space.

so, um, how hard is it to shove these into a PS3SLIM? anyone here actually tried it?
