I've done a little Speed Test for people interested on this drive from my WD hard drive and SanDisk SSD

Just left Pc World there with my new 1TB Toshiba drive, the 500gb was the same price £49.99. Any 1TB for this price is an absolute bargain in my eyes and USB 3 so mega fast for transfering your data 'if' you have USB 3 ports on your PC/Laptop.

There was loads of stock at my local stores for reserve and collect when I looked online :-)

This ISN'T a 3.5" that you have to use a power source, this is the small 2.5" you just plug it in the USB and voila its powered.
I'm guessing you could use this to increase your laptop hard drive, Xbox, PS3 and so on?

UPDATE; On my laptop transfering a file 9gb to the hard drive was averaging 118MB/second via USB 3 and SanDisk SSD. Well I say avergaing, that was the slowest it went, it started at 260MB/s and slowly ended up on 118MB/s and stayed there until the file was done.

UPDATE; From ProjectChaos - Could you add the fact you can get it delivered for that price and people can use quidco, to get cashback and get an even better deal

Says USB 3.0 great deal if it is... Good price anyway...
hot price!
Voted cold because Toshiba sucks and they are around this price anyway.
Good deal voted hot.

Also have 99p neoprene (at least look like neoprene) covers.
Thanks been looking for a portable one for a week or so now, cheapest I've seen, voted hot
Toshiba drives are more reliable than Seagate. IMO Western Digital and Toshiba are the 2 to trust. That said there are only 3 manufacturers of drives left these days.

Seagate, Western Digital & Toshiba. All other drive manufacturers (inc Buffalo, Iomega, LaCie etc) use badged drives

Ive ordered one for a backup backup great price

Never had a problem with Toshiba drives, great deal
Great spot, thanks. Just about to buy one of these!
What's the port on the back? Is it yet another standard port? USB3.0 I guess?
Thanks OP. Intenso one from John Lewis has went on the blink so needed a replacement.
Thanks OP....heat
Good deal , could do with size in title
Thanks OP, reserved one.
Ordered one, heat added.
I paid £60 for one last week at PC World, which seemed a bargain.
Have been looking as I missed out at the Christmas sales. Great spot. .... Hot
Anyone know if the drive is standard or if a usb port has been soldered on the back like the Samsung 2.5" drives?
INCREDIBLE deal!!! Thank you so much! Been waiting ages to get a 1tb, and this price is perfect!

Erm, no they aren't. £49.99 is a great price for a USB 3.0 2.5" drive.
Bought! (well, reserved)

Thanks!

Hate these sweeping statements people make with no other substantial explanation or details as to why a product is 'so awful'. How unproductive and pointless.
Fantastical price

Thanks for the cold vote lol, they arn't normally this price at all, I'm always on the look out for USB 3 drives at good prices, normally £55-60 so £49.99 is a bargain I've never had one this cheap.
I only use Toshiba and WD anyways, my mate who builds Pc's said Seagate are fine as well, everything breaks you might just be unlucky and end up with a bad one of the bunch.
This deal is perfect - apart from having to give pc world your money 8-)
finally a sub £50 portable 1tb, great deal.
MMMMMM.....
do i need one to back up my back up of my hard drive (_;)
"If it's not backed up twice, it doesn't exist"
home delivery is free if you can't be bothered to pick it up
assuming you want to risk PCWorld lasting for the next 3 to 5 working days of course!
I must remind myself I don't need this...

This website costs me more than I save I swear!
Best 1TB deal I've seen - been waiting a while for this. Big thanks to the op for taking the time to share their good fortune!
Cheers OP. Ordered.
Is this a standard drive inside or soldered? - would like o take I out of the case and replace an existing sata drive in a laptop
The web site says that this drive is self powered so would this be by a single host USB port or to two like on my old USB 2.0 Western Digital Passport, as I understand USB 3.0 can provide 900mA as opposed to 500mA for USB 2.0? If it's to a single host port, would a single 500mA USB 2.0 be adequate (it says it is backwards compatible) ?

Wrong size or wrong product you're getting mixed up with. As others said this is the first time a 1TB 2.5" drive is below £50. Elsewhere HDD prices seem to be going back up again so this is a VERY hot price.

.......

I've had a 500GB Toshiba Steel Series external HDD and had no problems.

I couldn't see a reply to your question. Yes that is a standard usb 3 port. It is actually made up of a normal micro usb plus another bit so can be used with a standard micro usb cable but you would only get usb 2 speeds then
Great find OP but will be even hotter if you put "1TB" in the title! (And USB3 is always backwards compatible with USB2 - I wondered what "USB two thirds" was!)
Thanks ordered!!
Great price for what it is - Hot!
