I ordered one of these when it was on before at £69.99 but with the free delivery code, which has since expired. However it was out of stock, and it took CDiscount 9 days to tell me that and refund my money. I called them this morning and they said they had over 100 in stock, so I've ordered again, fool that I am...

Don't forget 4.5% Quidco!

It was not a farce, just people talking rubbish because they were not lucky enough to get one of anything.

Well, I can only speak for myself but I've had 2 monitors and an external drive from Cdiscount since finding them earlier in the year and I've had no problems at all. That said, I haven't had to return anything so I have no idea how good the after-sales service is. What experiences have you had with them?

Yup would also second that, rubbish company with no morals!!!! Amazon all the way.....

Avoid. Bought a Buffalo 500Gb external drive from CDiscount, broke after 3 weeks. CDiscount didn't want to know, refused an exchange (told me they didn't have them in stock ???? make that one out) and told me to refer the matter to Buffalo. Buffalo issued a replacement product form to give to Cdiscount. Told CDiscount this and they emailed me to get in touch to arrange collection. Rang them to organise this and they denied sending the email. ??
Went back to Buffalo who want to send me a new unit but want the old one sending back to ......wait for it ----- The Netherlands, at a cost of over £20 (the unit only cost £45). Awful customer service , avoid at all costs! :x

At last, some constructive (destructive?) criticism - well documented, well supported.

I won't be buying from Cdiscount either - not that I ever have. When will people learn that cutting costs means cutting service. Better to invest a couple of pounds for "insurance" by buying from Amazon where they actually have an AfterSales service.

Conversely I returned some damaged shoes to them 3 weeks after I received them and got a refund no problem.

Though I had to scan the receipt for the postage to get that refunded.

Hi, a couple of weeks ago I bought this HDD, I used two codes plus Quidco. I waited for one week for HDD to turn up; it didn’t so I had to make a call and was told that cdiscount got none in stock. Day latter I received a call that this drive is in stock and I’m welcome to buy it. Personally it’s rued first to offer discount codes and than refuse to sell the HDD

Thanks will do although I have already sent you countless emails already regarding this issue. Shouldn't really have to go through a forum like this to get a result.

Guys, when we all stop getting messed about by retailers or e-tailers. FACT: The sale of goods act applies whether they are a great retailer or a second rate one selling bits cheap. We should all stop getting messed about asking things to be RMA'd and sent back to the "Supplier" in the Netherlands etc. REJECT it with the retailer thats who sold it you (Under the sale of goods act) and ask them for a refund. Send all faulty goods back to them, If they won't issue a refund or replacement, then sue them. Over £100, get your credit card co. onboard also.

PS - Does anyone know is this a SATA disk indide or a PATA please?

I think I would want a more public response from CDdiscount before buying from them. I don't need the ins and outs but something a little more detailed would help.

+1

There are too many internet companies selling cheap with cruddy after-sales service knowing full well that most people won't push through the hassle of returning the item.

Also this is a totally unremarkable price for this drive. - so luke-warm from me.

not true...i got a sat nav which in stock and available to order, tvs were in stock, wardrobes in stock, netbooks and laptops out of stock from the moment they went on sale to the moment the promotion ended, then back in stock later the same day

Seems like more or less all the post from this CDiscount appear to be them apologizing for their terrible service. In all honesty we all deserve better in these times and although saving £1 may be tempting I think I will stick to ebuyer who's service is far and away the best I have had.
CDiscount....Our survey says "X"

Which brand of HDD is inside this external drive?
