Toshiba 256GB MSATA SSD only £60.65 delivered @ CCL Computers

Crazy cheap for an MSATA which are usually more expensive than the usual SSDs and useful in notebooks/ultrabooks with spare slots whilst retaining your standard SATA connector for hard disk storage.

Over £75 elsewhere. You would be hard pushed even to get a standard 250GB SSD for this sort of price.

Note this already is a great price compared to anywhere else, however bear in mind the eBay 20% code if you are eligible (as in had the email) and are prepared for the groundwork in claiming (contacting customer services post purchase with details for refund in 14 days) with the now 'defunct' code.

Item from CCL on eBay is £62.05. Less the eBay discount it worked out at around £49.

Gets a good review [here]

Hot, good price for mSATA. Can also be used in 2.5" bay with a very cheap (passthrough) adapter.

True, although usually standard SSD drives are slightly faster and a little cheaper (not cheaper in this case though) These are of more benefit to those of us that are prepared to sacrifice a slight bit of speed whilst retaining a 2.5" bay for the better bang for buck HDs for storage purposes, or eliminating the 2.5" drive altogether for weight savings with ultrabooks

Know a guy that sells these and he says they are relatively slow (SSD terms) but at this price its still better than a v300

Admittedly these are nearly a couple of years old, and with that there may be faster drives out now, but the reference chart back then they were up there with the fastest mSATA.

Thats a different model than the one in the deal i believe

Can you explain how you'd go about claiming the 20% eBay voucher direct from the retailer?

Could you use MSata to replace magnetic hard drive in the same manner with SSD (e.g direct swap)?

thanks

looks like the ebay discount has expired

CCL are a JOKE for these deals, take your cash and then wait for YOU to call them to be advised the"deal" expired, but not before they charged your card and took your phone and email to sell on, avoid CCL, nothing but HUGE problems, a really shady company!

Really? As far as I am concerned they have been bloody great (as far as eBay CCL are concerned), at least better than eBays debacle has been concerned and now having to wait up to 14 days to get my 20% back.

Ordered at 14:54, dispatched at 15:45, tracking reference for next day delivery 15:54.

I never said you could, you don't you order from CCL via eBay at £62.05 as already mentioned in my OP, you then (if applicable and you have had your 20% eBay email) take it up with eBay.

I assumed so. In that case, why would you need to contact their customer service? Not being a **** just curious in case I'm missing something.

Not without an adaptor. You would be better off just buying a standard 2.5" SSD to be honest.

You would not contact CCL customer service, you would contact eBay customer service. If you have been living under a rock there was a 20% coupon code delivered to select eBay customers, abused by the masses, voucher pulled...disgruntled people including myself contacting eBay whom honour after purchase at full price.

Oh shnuckums... I was fully aware of that voucher and feared that reply..

So if I purchased a PS3 on ebay earlier using that code and saw the -20% at checkout am I ok? Or will it go through at full price?

Why the *if* I am not following you here, did you or did you not purchase the PS3 and actually checked out?

If you did then you would know by logging into your paypal whether or not during the time of purchase the code applied properly...it was working for some time.

If however you didn't check out with it, then sometime early this afternoon the code stopped working, and if eligible (as in you did genuinely receive the discount code via email) then contacting customer services both before and after purchase will honour the code....

Firstly contact them online chat to have a recorded log that they will be honouring the deal.
Secondly to confirm your purchase and for them to apply to your records the 20% which can take up to two weeks.

I bought a PS3 and watched it go through the checkout, I put the code in, it knocked it down by 20%, I checked out, but now that I'm looking at my PayPal bill it's saying it's full price? I didn't receive the code by email, I found it on here.

The code is working again now (whether or not for existing customers I do not know).

Problem you have is you never received the original email. Therefore contacting customer services to manually apply the discount could prove fruitless.

You can obviously return (distance selling regs) or attempt to cancel (difficult with eBay transactions) the original purchase.

My email receipt shows the 20% off code applied though So does my paypal receipt, but my paypal account shows full price Can't call them, I get the message "due to unforeseen circumstances we can't take your call right now"

They may manually apply the paypal discount later, I don't know...better a question really in that thread to anyone that did check out with it earlier to find out what was their outcome.

mSata drives do not fit into 2.5" or 1.8" bays without an adapter. So i would say no.

It may be worth getting in touch with them now the deal is over but it may be too late for you to let them know that the code did not apply...you really should have done it whilst the 'supposed' deal time period was live.

I initially went through live chat (so I had a record) I was told then to provide my User ID, Paypal email, Purchase amount (excluding delivery costs), Item ID, Discount Code.

I was erroneously told however that I could do this in reply to my email invoice, as that email address is non-returnable. So I followed up with a phone callback, gave my details that way.

I sent them an email yesterday as the chat wait time was over 30 min and phone line was also having a high wait time. Ni reply so far

thanks for that info. I tried checking out less than an hour before midnight so getting in touch with them at that time would have been near impossible - they should know that and since there was no follow up email to say the offer was pulled (if it indeed was) then I should hope they honour it. I'll do the same as you and start a chat later today...haven't got the time now to wait for an approximate 27 minutes according to their system. My 20% would be worth £40 and only bought because it worked out cheaper than the official site - I bought off a private individual so asking for a refund wouldn't be fair on the seller either.

Code is done by PayPal - they take the hit.
The retailer has no knowledge of any discount even being given - as in they receive the full amount/payment.
No way any retailer is going to honour this, lunacy.

Item available direct from CCL for £60.65 delivered.
Item was available on eBay through CCL for £62.06, I took advantage yesterday of the eBay 20% coupon to get it for £49, going through eBays customer service to manually apply discount which I will get within the 14 days as per the instructions I was given (in writing)

Bought a ton (50+) of "used" (removed from pre-built custom PCs with <1 power on hours) HDDs which sell for £200+ for £50 from CCL before. Customer service is slow (48hrs or so for a response but got everything)
