Old junk. Some people will buy all old rubbish because it's cheap or free.

How do you buy free things??
I will buy old things, it doesn't have to be rubbish, just not state of the art. Not everyone is bothered about the latest trend

720p
For £60 more we went for the John Lewis one - 1080p, smart TV with 5 year guarantee. Depends on what you're after but thought that was a good deal.
Wouldn't touch a Toshiba TV with a bargepole. Bought one a few months back, the panel started to fail, their service team for warranty repairs are shocking, verging on cow boys.

720p

For me the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 32-inch TV is minimal, as long as you don't sit really close.

The difference doesn't become obvious to me until viewing on a 40-inch.

It's the same with 4K, it seems pointless to me on anything below 50" where I can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4K (apart from HDR I suppose).

How does this compare?
Same price. However, slim and JBL speakers.

720p

720p just right for this size of TV plus freeview hd is all 720p
Perfect for the bedroom TV. Went for the tecknika deal instead.

I'll counter that by saying Toshiba were incredible and agreed to replace my panel even though my warranty expired 6 weeks prior.

They had the TV for about a week and a half, but I couldn't complain as the alternative was to pay for a quicker, expensive repair elsewhere.

Like most things on this site, it's gotta be worth a punt.

Luck of the draw I guess, but Vestel TVs which is what this is make pretty crappy TVs.

We replaced our Toshiba with a Hisense in the end which was the same price and the difference was truly staggering.

I guess for a spare room or kids room this would be fine.

I only got it for the kids to watch and save the arguments! They wouldn’t know what 720 or 1080 is so they’ll be happy

Ah well, maybe next time. Saying that I'm in northern Ireland and delivery is Saturday at the earliest. The store on the phone said they wouldn't match the price of direct.
Don't think I'll bother now.

You're either sitting too close to the 40-inch or too far away from the 32-inch! If a larger TV takes up more of your field of vision than a smaller one then you're doing it wrong. We all have our personal preference on how much visual space we want a TV to take up, and you should choose the size of TV that achieves this in the size of room you'll be using it in.
I use our spare tv for a ps4, so really want a 1080p panel, was very nearly excited until I saw it was HD Ready. good value though
