Got the full HD version from them for £152 damaged box. The 'brand new' ones were often on sale at £175, so better deal for full hd. Flimsy, Vestel, maybe ok for spare room but mine was sent back.

This new TV is so flimsy, the outdated operating system should be the least of your concern. I returned 2 (full hd version) this is why I am saying get this only if you have long warranty.
Awful tv, sent mine back. Almost unusable interface.
These aren't made by Toshiba and they are awful. Not worth buying even at this price, they are that bad.

Slow, unstable, frustrating.

I don't think Toshiba makes any TVs anymore. These are Vestel, made in Turkey. And if you get a JVC, you will find the exact same TV, apart from the brand in the front. Mine went back to store after was replaced once. All within 2 months.

Same experience, had the guy out to fix it, took it away and it came back even worse, replaced by Richer Sounds with a Panasonic which has been great.

Yes, it is sad well known brands like JVC, Toshiba, Philips, Sharp outsourced their TVs to Vestel. I was expecting at least to force quality on Vestel, but all these brands are in fact exactly the same TV. While I do not have high expectations considering the price, I am expecting the product to be fit for purpose, which is clearly not, even for use it as a spare TV. You don't even have to dig into the software or the settings, first impression counts and all these are so flimsy, you already know you've got a rubbish TV. Sadly, this is how good brands loose reputation. To make it worse, even Panasonic TVs are made by Vestel now, hopefully the quality didn't go down the hill.
It seems if you want a decent TV, you can only go with Sony, LG or Samsung.
