Unfortunately Tosh aren't what they once were..... they're now low end TV's.
40" 5 series Samsung from John Lewis for £280 is a far better deal.

Just noticed that this is 'Smart'..... may be alright, but I wouldn't trust this make anymore.

you are correct on all counts Jeff, the 5 year guarantee was a clincher - swap it out in a year (_;)

good reviews from non technical customers too. (Tesco site)

Yes..... worth a go I spose. Pretty safe with a 5 yr warranty.
Better than I initially thought for the price.

People seem to be forgetting the 5yr gazza.... almost makes it a 200 quid TV...

Any store codes available that can be used in reducing this any further ? Good find op btw heat added

**Edit** £15 off your next order over £75 - just enter TDXR-WRTP at the checkout.

Does this model require an adaptor/dongle to connect to router wirelessly ? because comparing it to the following model there is quite a difference in price and little change in spec

buy the crap tv - claim your cinema tickets and then take the tv back to get your money back - job done

If it was £200ish with a 1 year warranty it would be a far better deal - who is going to keep a £200 telly for 5 years??

Even cheaper if you use that tesco clubcard glitch that was posted. hotukdeals.com/vou…048

Exactly. I got burned twice, now I don't trust them any more. Plus Samsung Smart is designed to work for years, whereas most competitors ignore support once it is sold.

I've got a 37" tosh lcd which we picked up from sainsburys 5 or so years back and it's still strong. Was a bargain at 399 back then, I'd have no qualms about buying another tosh and the 5 yr warranty makes this a no brained for anyone looking for a TV of this spec/price

200hz rating too!

Yeah Toshiba not great anymore. Mines got Toshiba Places which is absolutely rubbish and no longer up-dated. Picture and features just don't compare with Samsungs (but it was cheapish at the time). Trouble is when going for the cheapest it's often false economy!

Was just about to press the buy button on this, but can't find this TV model number as qualifying for the Toshiba cinema tickets offer. Have I got this wrong ?

yep it qualifies. Here's a snapshot from their site - i've outlined it in Red for you

Thanks, but that looks like a different model. This one is the L3 series isn't it.

Might be an idea to drop Toshiba a line. The promo was added to the OP by a Mod after it was shared by another member kevjosant. I just assumed it would stand. Apologies.

No worries at all and thank you for the quick reply. Doesn't hurt to check these things I guess.

Same here. I bought a Toshiba 37" Regza LCD TV in February 2009 from Sainsburys for £399 after the deal was posted on this forum and it is also still going strong. The full power off/on switch that Toshiba still fit on their TVs stopped working a couple of years ago so we only have the option to leave it on stand-by now (like most TVs these days) but the picture is still very good. The main criticism of this TV seems to be that the SMART menus and Apps are a bit slow to load compared to some and Toshiba places doesn't have that many additional apps. However, this is still great value for a Smart TV with 5-year guarantee included.

Never noticed it was an L3 series but as the reciept can be uploaded to Toshiba to avail of the offer then a little bit of editing on the reciept would be suffice

Lots more than you might think but it isn't £200ish with a 1 year warranty so the rhetorical question is irrelevant.

Thats the same deal I bought and yes, I too had the same on/off switch failure on our TV last Christmas. I took the back off the set and found that the spring clip of the on/off switch had broke so I just switched the TV back on and like you use the standby on/off. You can buy the on/off switches off eBay for a tenner and they are a doddle to fit, but I haven't bothered.

So does this qualify for the cinema tickets or not?

which code?

I have the other model of this - 40L3455DB and I must say the picture is so crisp and clear it's a brilliant telly but there are cons to it to.

Pros
Best picture ive seen on a telly
soo sharp
viberant

Cons
Smart telly options are slow

If you can cope with the slowness of the smart telly then its great all round but I never use the smart telly options cause I have Chromecast and netflix on VM

Dont forget TCB too. Mine tracked within 30 min £3.81

Agree and it seems to be the normal price for the Samsung.... £279 at RS (5yr G) and Currys.

I'm sending my Toshiba back. Managed to order 48" Sony from Amazon Germany for £350.

Mine was supposed to be delivered yesterday. After waiting all day, I called up at 7pm to find out what was going on. "Sorry, demand has been really high and we're trying to source more stock". Well it was in stock when I ordered it, and you've already taken the money from my account, and you told me it was being delivered on Tuesday!

I expect to be told they can't get hold of any, and that I will be refunded.
