Awesome price. Voted hot
Good price
Great price, thanks OP - I assume John Lewis and Richer Sounds won't price match as their "Equivalent model" has a slighly different model number (43UL5A63)? Anyone know the difference (if any) between the two models)?

Slightly different stand. The VL is a variant designed to stop price matching between retailers.

Yes, that's the lower end U2, it has a less bright panel, and no picture processing.
There is £199 lidl one some one posted yesterday. Any idea what's the difference other than the price?

This one is much better, its a 4K panel (Vs full HD), is capable of processing HDR, and has a motion processing engine. The Lidl one is very basic.
Has anyone picked this up or got any early impressions? My father wants a new TV, and think this one might do the job as doesn't need anything too fancy!

Don’t forget possible 5% Quidco. There is also a 40” 4K JVC on the Curry’s site for £229. I assume the toshiba is better?

Guys should i buy this one or wait for John Lewis or richer sounds for Philips ambilight or Samsung ue43ru7020v

Both are made by Vestel, but JVC is one of the cheapo home brand ones (like Hitachi, Bush, Polaroid). Vestel use the Toshiba brand for their better TV's, they use better panels, and have better software features (like picture processing).
If its listed as Dolby Vision does it have a genuine 12bit panel then?

I'm in the same boat, the Samsung was £279 on ebay the other day, don't know whether to go cheap and cheerful or pay a bit more.

No. 8-bit + FRC. A TV being Dolby Vision compatible just means that it can decode it. Only high end TV's are able to do anything meaningful with Dolby Vision.

Thought as much
Could someone advise me please, is the John Lewis model exactly the same or an upgraded version? 43UL5A63DB rather than VL5A63DB?

John Lewis has a 5 year warranty on TVs...
Its already answered in the comments above
Does anyone know the difference between this one and the one posted here hotukdeals.com/dea…766 ???

Awesome thanks mate! I have put a very ambitious price match request in with John Lewis, incredibly unlikely but worth a shot as essentially the same TV

That one (Toshiba U2) is a lower end model, with a worse panel and no picture processing. It's basically the same as the home-brand TV's that Vestel make.
Tempted to buy this, but not sure if I should wait for black Friday and get a better TV for similar price as don't want to spend more than this!
I was picking my delivery time slot and it suddenly said that they don't deliver to me. Spoke to live chat and they've said that there are none available now for delivery, they are out of stock, so I just missed out. Still available for collect in store, if your local store has it.
Voted hot, better than the Lidl deal, you can get it delivered and you get Spotify too.

I posted that. The £199 is full hd, while this one is better, is 4k. I posted 2 in 1 in that deal, a Toshiba 4k will also be at Lidl for £229, but this one is a newer model, also better to get it from here.

Are not all Toshiba TVs made by Vestel now. Especially the budget ones? The U2 and this one are both budget models IMO.
I had 2 Toshiba 32 inch delivered this year, both returned, shocking quality, very flimsy, screen rattling, both developing faults within the first month. Identical with JVC. While I am not expecting miracles from Vestel, these were shocking. My old Vestel was purchased used, lasted us 9 years, these ones were so bad...

Been told there's little point having a 4k TV under 50". Any truth in this? Tempted by this offer

Yes, but not all Vestel TV's are created equally. They use the Toshiba brand for their higher end sets, and also their basic sets. Anything UL5A (and TL/VL variants) and above are generally better quality, with differences in components and processing.

This is what I hope, as they do Panasonic as well and I'm not expecting to get a piece of rubbish with Panasonic branding on it.
There were similar models, but I can definetely tell you that apart from the branding, JVC 32 inch full HD and Toshiba 32 inch full HD are identical.
I'm after a 40" TV for my mum (doesn't need to be 4K) for £200. Any recommendations? (43" is too big for her, apparently!)
When I read reviews I see the bad one first. One out of 21 previous customers says she found it little difficult to operate. The price is great for this TV but after reading that review I turned myself off.
displayspecifications.com/en/…c1d

says it has a glossy screen, with some Currys user reviews commenting on it being problematic with sunlight.

Specs seem very ok for the price otherwise.
