Toshiba apps are limited

£400 @ Co-op so this seems a decent price. Who cares about the apps on a TV.

Is this 4k?

No

Good price... I nearly went for this before the LG650 (£400 was my budget).. reviews say smart function is slow, but I'd say the same problem exists with the LG now that I own it. Best thing about the tosh is the response time so they say... You won't get much better for this money - heat added

Yes.
All Toshiba,Sanyo,Sharp,JVC,Hitachi and low end Panasonic models in Europe are rubbish made by Vestel in Turkey then a Japanese brand logo attached on them.
Go for higher end Panasonic models,Sony,Samsung or LG.to get the quality and brand you you payed for.
Of course with the mentioned brands specially LG and Samsung you need to be careful as they have some very poor models, some decent and some great ones.
There is little if any quality difference between these "fake" branded Tvs and chinese junk like Bush,Technika,Alba,Goodmans, etc.

Quite. These are all supermarket TVs made to a price. Sure it is big, but size is not everything.

No it's not a Vestel.
Made by Toshiba in their Poland factory. There's a couple of threads for this tv posted a few months ago with a link to expert reviews that rated it good.
Got one myself three months ago and have been very pleased with it and I set up the picture as per the review.

When did all this Vestel rubbish come to the UK? It sounds like virtually every company use them. Even the high end makes are probably made in China. The days of quality made in the UK or Japan are long gone I'm afraid.

If that is true, it would be a great deal. The 4 HDMI ports seem to support it - Vestel TVs usually have only 2. If I needed a new TV, I would certainly give this one a try.

not every company (yet).
Sony never uses Vestel..neither does Korean brands Samsung and LG.

Being made in China,Indonesia,East Europe, etc is not too much of a problem since manufacturers just build a assembling facility there under their standard and quality control to reduce manufacturing cost, however with this Vestel trend, the TV pannel and boards etc are completely designed and made by a different company, yet they are being sold as another.this is fraud.

but then I can understand why..some of these companies have no choice, people want big screens for little money, majority of them only know about size and maybe "specs" (ex 1080p) they don't understand pannel quality, image quality, black levels, screen uniformity, bleeding, viewing angel and all important things that make a TV good or bad.
so they give them what they want.

nonsense. the number of HDMI ports has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of a tv. all tv companies throw in an extra port the further up their range u go. but a rubbish brand is a rubbish brand, and toshiba are just that.

I bought this at christmas and it went straight back. horrible picture, probably the dullest blacks i've seen on a tv all year. smart function isn't smart, it's just iplayer and netflix, and it's SO slow. best thing tv has going for it is input lag for gamers.

That simply is not true. Please do not post incorrect info if you do not know what you are talking about.

I'm not saying this TV is not from there, but they certainly are not ALL from there. They use some great panels in some of their TVs.

As previously stated, the apps are limited. If they're of use when you buy the TV, they probably will only be supported for a year or so before being removed during updates (an example from my own near top of the range Tosh is the commonplace youtube app, which was removed).

toshiba didn't remove the youtube app, youtube stopped supporting the old version of their tv app, and toshibas smart platform is useless and cant run their other newer version.
