This is a great deal for a 2018 Toshiba 49 Inch 49U2963DB 4K Ultra HD HDR Bluetooth WiFi Smart LED TV (phew what a lot of numbers!), for £269. You can get them refurbished for a few pound less (around £255), so for a brand new product, this is cheap. You can get it delivered for £3.95.

Anyway, here is the blurb...

"With more pixels, crisper images, and more detail than standard HD, this 4K 49-inch Toshiba Smart TV will bring the cinema experience straight to your living room. If you're a gamer, simply set up your console with one of 3 HDMI sockets. Easily keep up with the latest shows with access to streaming apps such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. And with Onkyo speakers, movie night will be even more epic.

Enhancing your TVs colour contrast and image detail, you can watch your favourite films and binge-worthy boxsets in style with Dolby Vision HDR.

If you can find another 20 quid, the Hisense 50B7100 is a far better TV, and through John Lewis comes with a 5 year guarantee.
johnlewis.com/his…332

(same price at Richer Sounds with a 6 year guarantee but in store only)

This TV regularly comes in around £250 at other retailers, you then have the 2 year manufacturer warranty from Hisense (double the warranty that LG, Samsung, Sony etc offer).

The 55B7100 is currently only £319 delivered plus £15 online membership charge, inclusive of a 90 day return and 5y guarantee, if you want to go with a slightly larger screen.

Try to avoid one of the supermarket brands if you can.

I'd stay clear of Toshiba, in process of getting rid of mine, locks me out and have to pull plug to restart, smart menu is laggy as hell, remote is a joke, Toshiba have sent me a software update that didn't help...

Apart from that it's OK
had a 49" tosh in bedroom for a couple of years, no probs at all, good pq with sky minibox.
50" U2963DB is the same price at Curry's. 49" is IPS, 50" is VA.
same price on Argos own website

Good price for a budget TV. Made by Vestal like all supermarket budget TVs. Will be basic, functional, okay picture. Not a bad deal as long as you don't expect a lot.

Vestel Smart Hub. It can only load apps from the built in store, and there aren't many of them.

Thanks.

A quick look on Amazon and loads of people seem to be getting broken tv's delivered. Just on the off chance, are John Lewis good with their customer service? People saying Hisense CS isn't up to much.

John Lewis are pretty much the gold standard in my experience — far better than somewhere like Currys. If you’ve got a Richer Sounds nearby, they are pretty good too.

I'd go for the Hisense, but personally would pay the £20 extra for the additional 3y warranty from JL or additional 4y from Richer.

It's the same TV, different stand.
Motion rate makes this useless as anything other than a large digital picture frame. Fine for daytime tv, but any sports fans or gamers will find it poor. Another £50-60 will get you a tv that’s a lot better.

It's a 50/60hz TV. 100/120hz TV's cost a lot more than just an extra £50-60.

This doesn't have motion interpolation (soap opera effect) processing, which is a bit of a marmite effect. Gamers would usually switch it off to decrease input lag, I can see why it is useful for sports though.
Found 2 of these stocked in Sainsbury's Sury Basin Kingston Upon Thames branch for the same price. There are 2 more left after a guy picked one.

Has anybody seen any reviews for this?
How is the response time and input lag?
How is it in general for gaming?

I've been tempted by the Hisense TVs but they all seem to have high lag.

I'm tempted as a temporary (a year) replacement for my breaking plasma.

Vestel aren't known for especially low input lag, usually around 30-40ms in game mode 40+ in other modes.

Ok, thanks for the info. Good to know.

I'm not in a huge rush so will see what else sub £300 comes up.
