Oh give it a rest Ezzer you are always banging on about poor this poor that especially on tv’s Jesus it’s got a 5 year ticket on it and it’s a good price - honestly I really doubt this would have a 5 year warranty IF it was rubbish

Your comments are biased towards branded higher priced products - it’s a deals site whilst some may find your comments to be valuable you can’t escape the fact it’s a good price for a 49” 4K tv with a 5 year warranty.

In a way yes, but the TV I posted as an alternative was just £20 more and had an extra years warranty.

Was that an unreasonable bit of advice? If I was sat on my high horse saying nothing but a £3,000 OLED was acceptable, I would accept your accusation

These are both much better quality, and for you worriers out there, come with SIX years warranty from Richer Sounds.

Hisense have just bought Toshiba's TV division whathifi.com/new…ess

Maybe they are selling off existing stock.

Good find. Was looking at it just a few minutes ago. The reviews seem to be 50/50 but for the not-so-picky with the 5 years warranty should be a good deal.

See if they price match Costco here

That's not a bad price at Costco, I usually find their electric goods on the high side.

The only thing this TV has going for it is the warranty and you’ll get your monies worth out of it over the five years, that’s for sure. Best of paying slightly more for a Samsung, Hisense or at a push LG (their cheaper models are, well cheap and slightly subpar from what I’ve seen recently)

As a side note, my recent experience with John Lewis regarding a faulty TV they were in fact useless, engineers never showed up and nothing but conflicting info and occasional lies from their CS reps.

I had excellent service with John Lewis all these years. I always buy all my big ticket items with them because of the additional warranty they offered. I bought a Samsung TV from them 4.5 years ago and it needed repair twice , both times I got a TV on loan from John Lewis while I had my TV sent for servicing. The final time my TV had problems, John Lewis offered to give me a full refund for the price I paid 4.5 years ago but I decided to switch to another brand of TV (LG) & topped up the difference. My 5 years warranty resets to day 1 When my new LG TV was delivered. I can't fault on that!

I so wanted this TV last month JL had no stock at £399.99 emailed CEO and asked if they would honour the price for £399.99 once in stock.

They told me to do one

Tesco were doing this set for £399.99 no stock

Recently boots appliances were doing it for £379.99 and very

In the end I purchased a 43"

That may be why you didn't get anywhere as it is not really their job. This should be used where you have a complaint which isn't being dealt with lower down the chain.

I recently needed to do the same thing for an LG TV at John Lewis which had gone out of stock. I called up C/s who made a note and also directed me to an online notification form. When the TV was back in stock, I got a call and an email (and when they relisted, it is was £50 cheaper than previously advertised.)

My last experience was a total nightmare, I was given three dates for someone to come out and I ended up with three no shows, this dragged on for nearly a month before someone actually came out. It was eventually sorted in the end but I wasted three days for nothing and I was told that two of the no show appointments weren’t even booked. At least with the likes of Currys they have their own repair people in house and a lot of their TV’s now have a five year warranty so JL is not the only game in town.

So are LG good tv’s? Which are the best makes to look out for?

Which! recommended LG49SJ800V, which I bought for £699 at JL.
It's a very nice TV. Samsung are also good, but apparently they set their brightness a bit higher than most, so Samsung are good if you already have and are used to a Samsung.

They've bought the remaining arm of Toshiba's TV division. The European operations and the right to use the Toshiba name on TVs in Europe was sold to Vestel several years ago.

TVs like this are theoretically Vestel's premium range, although as there are no critical reviews yet it's hard to tell whether they're actually any better than the average TV without the manufacturer's name on the front.

Make only influences some things, individual models can often differ more. Generally the best buy at this price for most people is one of the top Full HD models from the Sony/LG/Samsung ranges.

Maybe Hisense don't like paying Which for good reviews.

Ouch. Should this sort of thing be written on a public site? I would be very careful, personally. Unless you have irrefutable proof, of course..

I can't vouch for any of these, other than LG is a good make and the 22 inch Sharp will probably be too small.

tesco.com/dir…235 £159, 28 inch LG

Which hisense model did you buy

Hello all. This TV has poor build quality, very flexible.
Don't know how Toshiba would allow their name to be used on such garbage.

When Japan display work out how to manufacture OLED and Panasonic finish the modification to the IPS production line (new IPS SCREEN technology) TV quality and prices will favour the consumer. 32648761-GVUzI.jpg

Thanks. I'm massively out of the loop with tv technology... What makes these tv's better? Is 4k really worth it at this price?

I know someone with a cheap 4k tv and normal hd is terrible and laggy.... Would this be the same?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for any answers in advance!
