Very good price for a brand name TV (not sure it makes much difference with Toshiba, their TVs aren't the best).

£379 on Direct: tesco.com/dir…prd

Looks like Tesco are clearing stock so likely to be in other stores.

Good luck!

not a fan of Tosh. but at this price its gotta be hot.

agreed with the above. For a 50" none home brand TV this is a steal. Great find

Our Tesco is quite a large one with an upstairs dedicated to clothes and electricals, so I'm sure it will be in other stores like ours.

I set it to local (as I can't gaurantee it will be elsewhere) - will it show up on the main list regardless?

I picked one up Thursday for £270 with staff discount. Its not amazing but certainly isn't poor. I was torn between this and the 40" Smart version which is also on offer at £299

Last Toshiba TV I had went up in smoke. After the missus had tweeted about it (I kid you not), she unplugged it. Despite being 6 years old, Toshiba gave me £150 back, which was about a third of what it cost. So I looked at all the new Toshiba's. Then bought an LG...

We've had a 42" regza for almost 10 years and is been great, I'd buy another Toshiba.

6 years isn't bad for a TV made down to a price

That's called a "Tesco Extra".

It most certainly is!

I'm not sure if Toshiba has went downhill, but I had a (nearly 8 years old) 42WLT68 till recently and it was one of the top of the range tellies at the time (one of the earliest LCD tellies to have 3 x HDMIs and 100hz picture processing, Onkyo speakers). I have read that cheaper Toshes are now Vestel models, which is a shame.

Good price but I had problems with this brand, they are on pa with LG if you ask me, if you want a good tele it's worth saving up for a sony/samsung/Panasonic.

I gather cheaper Toshiba TVs aren't made by them, just re-branded. I wish the old big names wouldn't do this.

On top of that, I gather there's only a few manufacturers left that actually make the display panels for TVs anyway, mainly just LG, Samsung, Sharp, AU Optic and some other cheap ones.

Probably not really a toshiba at all, just a rebadged Vestel.

I'm sure it's fine, just nothing special.

I've had a regza for 5 years now, not missed a beat in that time ...

Had a Tosh that died, after sales of Tosh was top notch ended up getting £890 back after unable to repair on £1200 original price on 13 months use. Was able to replace and have money in my back pocket which was a bonus!

problem is that it's outdated LCD technology, all TV's are LED now

Here we go again. Apart from OLED and Plasma, the only other (mainstream) display technology is LCD. The 'LED' part of it refers only to the backlight; in conventional LCDs this is provided by CCFL (fluorescent) lighting while in 'LED' LCD's, this is provided by low-energy LEDs. The display technology in both is exactly the same - LCD. Of course, a Curry's salesman will tell you different.

The cheap Tosh TVs are UMC rather than Vestel.

The more expensive ones are at very least Toshiba designs... I'm not sure if this one qualifies.

As for the LCD comment, LOL. All TVs of this price range are LED-backlit (which is a cheaper, and not necessarily better, technology than CFL).

My Tosh 37WLT68 is still going strong after 11 years and it's awesome. I bought a 32" Tosh a few years ago and it was complete junk.

Very good price if you could find one ....

Typical 2 weeks ago i paid £379 i've noticed with Tesco they do this alot...
