4K resolution and HDR technology

If you love film night or getting friends round for the footie, you'll love the detail on the Toshiba 50U6863DB 50" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV. This screen delivers high contrast and vibrant colour that makes films pop off the screen.

It's also compatible with Dolby Vision HDR, which uses the same technology you see in cinemas. It boosts the colour and contrast scene-by-scene, so every movie looks exactly like you'd expect.

Sounds as good as it looks

The U6863DB includes XSound Pro technology to immerse you in sound - don't miss a moment in movies, even when the characters are whispering. The built-in Onkyo speakers deliver a wide sound spectrum that sounds great from any seat in the room.

Works with Alexa

Kids hidden the remote? You don't even need it. If you have an Amazon Echo or Echo Dot, you can use Alexa to control your TV - just use your voice to take control of your TV.

Spoilt for choice

If you love a boxset binge, you'll love the 50U6863DB LED TV. The Smart Portal that lets you watch all your favourite shows from catch up services like BBC iPlayer, with an easy to follow bar at the bottom of the screen. It's even got a dedicated Netflix button, so you can get to the shows you love in a single click.

Effortless installation

For setup without the squabbles, our Team Knowhow experts can connect your new TV to your Blu-ray player, sound bar, and other devices. They'll even get you online so you can put your feet up and start watching straight away. Pass the popcorn.

Essential extras

Want your TV wall mounted? No problem. We've got brackets that tilt, swivel, or fix your TV in place for the best viewing spot in the house. Alternatively, browse our range of TV stands – we've got enough designs to keep even the pickiest interior designer happy.

Avoid the disappointment of getting your shiny new telly home and realising you don't have the cable you need to connect your games console or Blu-ray player. Sandstrom Gold Series HDMI cables support all resolutions and come with a reassuring lifetime guarantee.

I bought the 43T6863DB (basically the same as this TV, but smaller and with the speaker on the front) from AO for 224 over the weekend. I'm surprised by just how good it is to be honest.

The picture is bright, colours are very good once the settings have been messed with. The smart OS is simple, but it has the majority of the big services. It uses an IPS panel, so black levels aren't great (very similar to LG on their lower end 4K TV's). Screen uniformity on brighter scenes is better than my Samsung 50MU6120 (it has dirty screen effect issues on panning shots that are mainly white), on darker scenes my Samsung can go significantly darker than the Vestel, due to the VA panel.

Something else it does better than my Samsung TV is 4K h.265 playback over USB. The Samsung often fails to play the files correctly if there are too many streams present (like lots of different subtitle languages included in the file), the Vestel TV has had no issues playing these back.

Sound quality isn't great, it can go loud, but it lacks bass. A soundbar is needed for movies and music.

It will probably be a Vestel , the budget Turkish brand make low end TV's for a number of brands.

It is, still great value though.
Super price for this ....I wait for the 65 inchers to come down

Anybody know if it has game mode and/or input lag measurements?
Is this better than the tcl 55 inch deal?

Yes it has a game mode, not sure about the input lag though.

Similar, both are budget sets. The Toshiba has more features, and probably a brighter panel.

TCL TV's are good in the US as they use better components and software compared to their relatively poor TV's sold in the UK.

Thanks mate
Looks like they've made the interface a lot prettier than the old versions. I have a previous range 50" Toshiba (Vestel) and it has a very acceptable picture.

This is ludicrously cheap.

Insane how cheap TVs are now. I don’t have a 4K tv - but this does tempt me.
Thanks Just ordered way better that TCL one!

Just make sure to watch 4K content to see the difference.

Freeview channels and other SD/HD sources will still look the same.
Great price. Paid this for the 43" couple months back.
Ordered this then saw the Phillips one for £359, also from Currys eBay.

Confused as not sure whether to cancel this one and buy the Phillips one

Can this tv download android apps?

It's not an Android TV so guess not. Toshiba have got their own app portal according to the blerb on eBay , plus it can be voice controlled if you have an Echo (Alexa) .

I would have thought comparable quality but this is smaller and slightly more expensive.

Soundbar and Fire TV stick - they'll both have awful sound and awful apps.

The apps on the Toshiba work fine?

I've got a 4K fire stick which is slightly faster in use, but otherwise the apps are the same. Obviously there is less choice available in the store, but all of the big streaming services and catch-up apps are there. It's not much different to what Samsung and LG offer on Tizen and WebOS.

Yeah, they will be 'okay', but limited selection and probably won't be updated for very long etc.

I still think the 55" was the better buy at this budget end of the market.
I bought a 49” tosh last year when Tesco direct were selling them off for £250. Brilliant value just bought a bigger one
Great just ordered
Possibly 1% on Quidco, every little helps
How easy is this to put on a wall, thinking of using this x3 for advertising slideshows at my business. Will it play slideshows off a USB stick ie from PowerPoint?
I got a 43" Toshiba 4K, and am really happy with it. The picture is good, and the sound is acceptable, although I have an AVR set up so sound isn't an issue. The TV doesn't lag with remote commands. Defo worth getting at this price. Good find OP, heat added
Needed a TV for the bedroom. After a few hours of deciding I went with the HISENSE H50A6200UK for the extra £23. This TV is only 50hz and little no reviews about it. Where the Hisense gets really good reviews from Trustedreviews and AVforums and had direct LED backlight and only 24ms input lag..

Listed as 50hz for UK TV standards, but actually 60hz.
Cheap as chips
Heat! Been after a new TV for the bedroom this will do nicely. Thanks
had the 55" version of this TV. Image quality is great it really is, better than my 2014 4k LG, everything else it falls over, if you can live with a weird electrostatic screen, ok'ish UI and a HDMI source than when you switch them they don't always load this is the TV for you. As I say I can't state this enough, the HDR image quality is outstanding. the 55 came with better speakers than this so sound was good, idk about this set.
