Wouldn't normally go for a Toshiba but this seems to tick all the right boxes. OLED, dolby vision and HDR 10. Price on Amazon is the cheapest that I can find.

Next cheapest 55 inch OLED is around £1500 for the LG B8 unless you get a refurb 2017 model, so a decent saving to be had for effectively the same panel.

a lot of money for a Vestel tv,

Same panel as LG but the picture processing wont be the same as major brands, just because its same panel does not make it the same tv
I can't seem to find a proper review of this one. The old model was not well received but this one is better on paper.
Looks a good price for oled I just spent 1580 on a Panasonic 55" tx55fz802b. Fantastic picture quality, would be interesting to see the difference that 500 extra gets.
Anyone can explain ups and downs for lg b8 vs this toshiba and pana tx55fz802b

cant find anything apart from specification comparsion.

it shows that LGoled b8 has HDR and Pano has HDR10, is that typo or LG doesn't have hdr10 ?
It is actually £1044.53 when you get to checkout, I don't know why...
Oh it just dropped on the main page now too.

I wish there were more reviews of this TV. I'd expect the LG C8 to be better but £650 better... I don't know.

If you'd Googled it, you'd find it doesn't. There's not many reviews out there, just the odd hands on review done at trade fairs.

£1099 seems pretty good, even for a Vestel-made (why do people seem to hate on Vestel?) 2017 OLED TV
this android tv?

android tvs are pure hell to use. especially since this is a dual core processor, wo going to be slow.

It runs on Toshiba's Smart TV portal which may be Linux based and looks slick enough after a January update, not much recent experience on forums though
toshiba.co.uk/tel…on/

Also has Onkyo sound according to Richer sounds though a separate speaker system is a good idea

RS sells for £1299 so this is a bargain, can't believe there are no reviews on Amazon or RS, someone must of bought one

That's one for £808 from an amazon seller although I don't know if that's genuine or not.

I'm certain you'll get the best possible service from 'dgdzfgbzdfgzdfg' - just launched...
Genuine question...why would one spend a grand and then some on a budget OLED TV rather than an equivalently priced LED tv?

To rephrase...which would be better?

Well you have to judge each TV on its own merits.

I think that's the problem with this set, the specs look amazing on paper but there's no solid reviews out there. Some people just see the name Toshiba and turn their noses up.

If this was a 2018 LG OLED at £1050 I'd imagine this deal would already be over 1000° heat.

Well I was going to buy a Sony 49" XF9 LCD but the deep blacks and constrast is very clear when putting LCD next to OLED. It cost a lot of money but the picture is epic, like being at a top grade cinema the colour is amazing. I'm no TV expert but after speaking with the sales guy and seeing the difference it was enough to justify the extra £500.
Reviews on web says that b8 is best oled of 2018 if consisred rrp etc.

i was lucky like many others to get b8 for b7 price due to rgb direct stock issue and was honoured b8 for 1189 including soundbar that I now sold for 90 quid, making tv purchase worth 1.1k for 2018 oled model.

although c8 and abovr models have alpha 9’chip, reviewers say its not much difference in real world, especially if you talk about 500+ gbp price difference from a7 to a9 mode
Anyone brave enough to buy this and leave a review?

Still no reviews on Amazon or Richersounds

I'd guess picture quality is amongst the best being OLED with little difference between the processors used on different brands

The bigger issue would be the OS being Toshiba's own smart TV logic system because the Sony XF9005 has amazing image quality for an LED but Android ruins the experience

If the OS is ok then this is an amazing deal for OLED

Yeah I agree. There's a lot of excellent panels around now, both OLED and LED. The bigger issue like you said seems to be the OS.
It's even cheaper now too, £1014.61.

Yep same way the "cheaper" options from the big names like LG and Samsung are not as good as some of the cheaper brands in terms of hardware spec - suppose just got to look at your budget then choose something in that range - I would say best to see them on display and get an idea of the quality of the output

I found the OS on the latest OLED LGs to not be that great, bit sluggish and not as user friendly as it could have been

OS on my Panasonic OLED is very fast. Apparently its based on firefox.

The OS on my LED Panasonic which probably uses the same system is good too

Can anyone with any smart Toshiba TV share their experience as I'd imagine it's the same as this OLED if it uses the same Smart Logic system?

Good value great picture
Bought a week ago plenty of settings to get the picture just as you want great sound To get the right setting for football .The colour setting has to reduce to 32 for proper grass colour otherwise grass is a unnatural and fluorescent .Also could do with a mimic hdr mode to get a good colour setting as with Dolby vision reproduction
