How does the Toshiba os compare to LG and philips?
The panels are all made by LG I understand but how the TV functions requires good os and decent upscsling processor etc.
Great price. Without taking names, it’s made by the same guys who make Panasonic TVs.

Name names, it's not a Toshiba but a Vestel who also make numerous others brands inclusing some low end Panasonic TV's, and Panasonic themselves make thier upper ranges.

No real reviews. A few owners in this thread, user - Peahead goes into some detail (he went from the LG C6 to the Toshiba):

"Well i took a risk and bought the Toshiba 55X9863DB for £999 from my local Argos and yes i know who makes this tv but honestly after setting it up and testing my devices with it which are Apple 4k tv ,Xbox X,Ps4 Pro, and Samsung k8500 UHD player and i have not had a single issue.

Dolby Vision from my 4KTV works great and i also tested HLG from the iplayer beta and that worked fine too.

So so far so good for the vestal/LG OLED37155218.jpg

Worth scanning the whole thread:

I've had my eye on the B8 for a while (almost went in at £1569 from Crampton last week), but at this price I am seriously considering the Tosh. Just don't like that little chin on the underside of the screen.

What a price for a 65" OLED!
Considering this to replace a 6 yr old panny plasma which has, imo, a great picture will I notice any big difference? Also is the screen matt or gloss as we have reflection problems where the tv is situated? Thanks in advance.

When you're busy watching something & enjoying the TV as a whole, that's the last thing that's likely to catch your eye or be a distraction in any way. Also, may be a good idea to have a look at it in person in a store if possible before making up your mind?

Yep. It's just gone back up to the original price in the last few minutes
More about the TV from Peahead at AVForums....

"I have not had much chance to play with the tv yet due to work but i did try a few 4k football videos via the inbuilt youtube app and i could not see any motion artifacts around the ball or the players so it seemed to handle it very well. I did have a few games COD and Battlefield V and again motion was excellent and the tv would also automatically switch to game mode which is nice and it felt very responsive.

Colour management is pretty basic to be honest there are only a few basic options you can adjust like skin tone and white point /colour gamut sadly i cant see a full colour option.

The operating system is responsive its not LG responsive but its by no means bad youtube loads fast and so does Iplayer and it also has freeview play and a freesat tuner but the rest of the apps are pretty useless and off no interest to me.

I wont be bothering with the dreaded slides test i don't want to go looking for problems.

Oh and it has 5g wifi and four full fat HDMI inputs and it does come with 2 remotes in the box."

It’s just an aesthetic thing. I pay more for better looking furniture, couches, coffee table etc. Why not the TV.

I like the fact the LGs are just a rectangle with a border (in addition to being better TVs no doubt). Also I’m wall mounting soo it’ll be more prominent. If I was using the stand it wouldn’t bother me as much.

Ok, I understand, but if I could afford a better looking one I wouldn't be considering this at all. So wondering why are you?

If I can afford a nicer car or house that doesn't mean I need to spend the cash. It's all about value. There are 2 things at play.

- The chin
- Possibly a worse TV (but that's an assumption - we have no in depth reviews to go off).

The saving is ~£300. Is that worth it? That's my decision.

Also I haven't ruled out the Tosh, just the chin is putting me off.
some companies do not sell rubbish even if its a bottom end product. Save your money look for a better deal. Vestel is not good if you care about quality.
Expired. We know from OLED reviews that the major brands, Sony, Panasonic and Philips all score very high marks. Toshiba TVs are sold just about everywhere but are seldom reviewed which suggests something about their mediocrity.

I'm pretty sure this tv has an LG panel so vestel build or not the panel is still LG. if it comes this price again it's an absolute bargain imo considering a Sony oled is x3 the price using the same panel too
Can somebody explain the Vestel / LG panel issue for me please? I’m looking to buy soon!! Appreciate a response 💪🏽

LG make every single oled panel, so what the person is trying to say is it doesnt matter who the TV is made by, Sony LG Panasonic Toshiba Philips or vestel, that actual panel (which is the display) its self is made by LG regardless, then the manufacturer takes that panel and put it in there tv, so the rest comes down to how they like to do their settings and how the set looks and also the computing power and software in their tvs
