my store too, had them about 2 days ago...wasnt sure if any good?

wonder will they be nationwide...will check later and post if my local has them

looked up reviews on utube some good some bad good deal for the price im going to tesco in springburn see if they have any good for taking holiday

OK for this price. But wouldn't suggest using for your holiday footage.
Bought the S10 version when it first came out, and while you can get a decent picture if you hold it steady, once you try to move, the picture is all juddery, and not smooth.Zoom is also not worth using.
Gave it away after one go, to the mother in law.

These ones come with a SD card?

Does it have a focus?

Have one, it's only good for steady filming as soon as you move a bit it's pants.

Avoid buying this camcorder. I brough one from Tesco and the quality of the video is poor especially indoors. Took it back for refund. I must admit that because it was a repatable manufacturer it was a dispointment to discover the lack of quality

I have the s10 (exactly the same hardware but smaller form factor) and I'm seriously debating taking it back. Overall it's a nice little camcorder but the focus is way off and it's completely rubbish for low level lighting (anything other than a bright sunny day or professionally lit scene - forget about it). There's no autofocus, only a manual switch to change between macro and landscape. However, there seems to be this dead space between the 2 settings where it simply doesn't have focus. It's really annoying because it's the distance (about 3ft from the lens) that you want in focus for peoples faces or filming items for YouTube reviews etc. I've found a ghetto solution is to jam the switch half way between the two settings (VERY fiddly!). The lighting I can work with but constantly trying to keep things in focus is not much fun. Also the zoom is only digital and extremely jerky.

Overall I wasn't expecting much for my money and when set up correctly the HD video it takes is stunning! (for a sub £100 camera). It stores movies as .avi files which are easy to work with and it takes standard SD cards which is very handy too. Don't bother with the included software!, it'll just fill your PC full of unneeded junk and it doesn't even render your videos in full HD!! :?.

I'd say for £50 give it a try but really don't expect much and remember you won't be able to use it indoors. I'll probably be taking mine back for a refund and paying extra for something with autofocus and optical zoom.

These ones come with a SD card?

No, it has 128mb onboard mem out the box but that's it.

No, manual switch between macro and landscape (see above for problems with this though).

That is a fantastic price....and really annoying as I ordered the Veho equivalent off ebay for 45 quid last night "nearly new". I bought 20 of these for my school. They are good cameras. Wont compete with a 300 quid camera but that's kind of obvious. Picture quality is good. Sound is a little weak. Digital zoom is jerky and not very good. Poor in low light etc etc, but don't let that put you off because this is well worth the money.

They don't come with an SD card but most cameras don't. Battery seems to last forever.

Just want to add that this camera stores the files as .mov (I couldn't see any option to change this) and not .avi as the poster above mentioned.

I'm not joking about the format, mine does store videos as .avi. I thought it was strange too but maybe there was a firmware update and they dropped the .mov format.

damn just ordered this from tesco direct last week!

Only a couple left in Barnlsey but got one, seems fine to me:thumbsup:

I've just been researching this, and while I cannot find any firmware updates for the camera (apparently you have to contact Toshiba for this) you are right. There are two versions floating around, one which records to .mov and the other to .avi. As far as I know there is no way of telling which you will get. Considering the cameras I bought are only two weeks old I don't think it matters when you buy them but when the retailer acquired them. I'm wondering whether they all record to .mov, as I haven't had a chance to try them all, only 3.

omg, thanks so much was just about to buy the same one from tesco direct. Hope my local store has it. HEAT! AND REPPPP!

Excellent, been looking at these for a couple of months now. Just been to Silverburn and picked 2 of them up.

got the last one in silverburn....thanx!

TIP :- If you change the .mov extension to .mpg (as it is mpg anyhow) you can put it in Windows Movie Maker etc and it will play ball with more software

got them is stock springburn was gonna get one changed my mind when i read reviews

I'll give that a try when I'm back in school. If it works you might have saved us a big headache (and 2k for software to work with .mov files). It seems Windows Live Movie Maker doesn't mind the .mov files.

wouid get this but still have my unopened endova HD camcorder i got from pc world deal on here £39.99

I would definately recommend the flip ultra hd! Its far superior to this imo, I did bags of research looking at this and many other portable cameras, and the flip ultra hd came out on top for video quality and sound.

I love it and well worth spending a few quid more on! Plus it takes AA, and comes with a rechargeable AA pack, which can be charged via the flip's usb connection.
