Go easy dealers, it's my first post. Been looking at adding to my Xbox one capacity and came across this... seems like a good deal as last year I paid not much less than this for the 2tb version

Seems decent price for 3TB. Did you get the Toshiba 2TB one? Just wondering how they perform? If they're okay, i'm ordering one for my XB1X

Yeah. Got the 2tb version and I've had no problems with it at all. Nice compact design and just sitting pretty behind the Xbox

I also have the 2tb version for my Xbox works great I luckily grabbed one of the refurbished 2tb wd deals the other day as I’ve ran out of space my Xbox got more drive space than my pc lol

These drives are pretty bulletproof, take these every day over Seagate, Toshiba drives are awesome.

That's the same problem as I've got. Filled the internal (which ain't hard) and just about filled the 2tb as well which means I've got to spend more money. Doesn't help that I keep buying games and not completing the previous ones

And people say that about Seagate etc. You could buy a brand new Samsung tv for a few grand and have it fail. Like I say I've had no problem with mine

You speak such truth. I'm on the hunt for an 8tb now just to be done with it!

This is down to higher than expected fail rates not an expected fail rate margin. Your premise is flawed.

Where is any evidence of higher than expected failure rates? You're just making assumptions based on your own bad experience.

Seagate had quality control issues years back and it is a problem people still refer to. Both myself and a friend had identical drives that failed within 3 months. Now their drives quality are decent I have no problem buying another.

Best way for anyone to pick a HDD is to look at the manufacturers warranty. That's an indication of how long they expect a drive to last +1 year. Unfortunately the Canvio drives don't even last that. I say my drive lasted 14 months, when actually it was in constant use for 9 months til I sold my Xbox then wasn't tested again until 5 months later when I tried using it again. 5 months in a drawer, so could have died anytime between then and when I tested it again

I did think about getting bigger than a 3tb but I don't think I could do with having one that needs to be plugged into the mains. I just like the way they've made the portable ones so small and can be hidden. Hopefully by the time I've filled the 3tb someone will have made a bigger portable one

I'm making an observation not an assumption based on openly attainable information. The internet's a big place do some research as your the one making assumptions.

The reason I know this is because I researched it when my drive died. That's how I know.

Opinions remain opinion without quoting relevant and trustworthy sources.

I agree however with this 4k Xbox and games like gears taking 100gb already, concerned my current 3tb isn't going to last long. The main s powered option doesn't float my boat either but needs must! If I find a high capacity usb powered for decent price, il shout you

I’ve had two 3tb external Toshiba Canvios fail out of four purchased. WD passports are more reliable from my experience. I never buy seagate drives after my experiences with them.

Had the Xbox branded 2TB Seagate for a couple of years now, it has served five separate Xbones now including my new X and never ever a problem so zero complaints from me.

I’m already accepting of the fact that a mains powered one is the only credible option with the size of these. I shall reluctantly buy one when I see one at a price I can’t refuse, thinking of the American Amazon option as I seen some really good deals on the WD’s in recent times over there.
