Toshiba said q1 2015, that could be as late as the end of march even if they're on schedule.

"Q1 2015" is the only official date. However, someone on Reddit phoned Toshiba UK and was told that they arrived on Monday and should be available soon. They have been on sale in the US for a few months now, so a lot of the teething problems should have been sorted. I would expect them to be available before the 1-2 months quoted on Amazon. Who knows exactly when though.

It is the cheapest I've seen for a Chromebook with a nice IPS full HD screen.

The same model is $329 in the US, which is good if you can bring one back in luggage. If you import it, and have to pay the shipping and taxes, it works out at about £300, and won't have a UK keyboard.

theverge.com/vid…ted is a video which seems reasonable to me.

If you don't want an IPS, full HD screen, then there are cheaper, faster Chromebooks. At the moment, this seems to be the best option if you do want that.

I was hoping that the UK price would be closer to £250. With the strength of the pound, perhaps it will drop in price soon. The first Toshiba Chromebook also sold for £260 initially, and then dropped to £210 over the next 4 months. uk.camelcamelcamel.com/Tos…wse I don't know if I will have time to wait for this one to drop in price.

The full HD screen is also IPS, which means that the colours are more vibrant and the viewing angles are wider tha the TN screen on the cheaper model.

My Toshiba Chromebook 2 was delivered today. I am very impressed so far.

Need a laptop for kids homework ... does this have the necessary s/w installed like WORD?

nice one. how do you find the speed? all reviews i've read say it's slow but i've yet to read a test that sounds like reasonable use. they're always opening 24 tabs, streaming hd video, using 6 apps and then complaining that angry birds freezes. wtf is that all about.

unfortunately both models are now out of stock at JL

For everyday use using email, browsing etc it is very capable. Start up and shut down is almost instantaneous. The trackpad is so good I have stopped using a mouse with a laptop for the first time ever. The screen is very good (I have set the scale to 150% in Advanced Settings as a personal preference).

i'm really pleased so far. i've been using an acer netbook so performance on the chromebook is noticeably better. screen quality is really good and it doesn't seem to be as reflective as i expected from the reviews. the only thing i haven't figured out yet is how i'm going to replicate autohotkey as it only works with windows.

The Full HD 4GB model is still available direct from Toshiba 020 3051 9738 as they appear to be OOS everywhere but only comes with standard warranty as opposed to JL's 2 year cover.

Do you know the price direct from Toshiba?

Thanks

Received mine yesterday from Amazon. Pleased with it so far, things do look a bit small but like people have said that can be tweaked to your personal preference & you can always change the resolution by pressing Ctrl & Shift then + & -
Mine replaces a HP 14 Chromebook with a Haswell processor the Toshiba has a Bay trail both with 4gb of Ram & with multiple tabs open just watching Youtube videos ect, i must say i can't tell any differences performance wise. "But i'am no expert" & the screen does look beautiful. All in all i'am very happy with it & would recommended it if a Chromebooks what your after. i can't comment on battery life yet because i haven't unplugged it from the mains yet.

DABS are listing them at £255.93 with 2% cashback, although they don't have stock and its a 1 year guarantee. hotukdeals.com/dea…511

The Full HD model is back in stock at John Lewis. It is the RRP, but you get a 2 year guarantee instead of 1.
