I had a look at these before buying a Jessops one. From what I gleaned when reading about them at the time the lights only come on when you touch the frame.

At £45 it is a very good buy I think. It was about £55 delivered as a Valentine's special last week - and a misleading promotion at that.

EDIT : In fact the promotion is still misleading. The photo is not of the L80. Neither does the L80 have the features listed in the prom e.g.

Tilt sensor: auto switches the display orientation and 8 x Touch sensors with LED lights (it has 7).

I rang them up about it on the Valentine's promo and said it had taken me quite a while to work out what they were actually selling and that their promo was misleading customers. They were supposed to be getting a manager to ring me back - but it never happened even after I rng again. I emailed Toshiba too and had no reply. Hence I bought the Jessops.

Try downloading the user manual from the tashiba site, it's worth a look at all the functions

]http//uk…=UK

You need to select - options and accessories - Digital imaging - Digital photo frame - Gigaframe L80/81 and then press search.

If you want to go direct this link should download the user manual zip file

Thanks for the User manual:thumbsup:

How much was the jessops one ? Was it HD? and how did you find the quality of HD compared to the other digital frames

Cheers

I fancy the model up from this one which has the battery. Looks like the code doesn't work for it though.

There's actually 2 codes flying about - both of which give the same discount. But you can only use one per order - I'm currently trying to get the system to accept both somehow ...

Hot deal and great price - shame there's no remote (for my requirements).

great deal even thought it does not have a remote. just ordered one!

thanks- good one

bought two of these a couple of months ago yes the leds automatically switch off and they are very good for the price

Out of interest why did you pick the Jessops one in the end?

Pointless post.

These would become so useful with the addition of a USB/DVI type port that let you connect it to a PC. Any way to hack at the innards?

Looks like a good price but I think you have to see the quality of the screen to really decide on these. A lot of them really suck that I've seen in stores. I bought a 7" one a few years ago as a gift from ebuyer at around this price, so surprised they haven't really come down further.

You can connect this to a PC to use it as a second display as per user manual:

You'll reconsider when you see how little you use it.

I bought the wife one for Xmas 2007 cos she complained she never sees photos now they are digital. She loves it and it is never off. You do need to get high res thos as cheap low res look poor.

Rubbish, I've had one for four years and it was on everyday until we moved house and broke it.
You don't like them, fair enough, but alot of people do.

Hello,

Tried to order, first order failed as did the second with error:

We are sorry but we cannot process the order.

And no, there's nothing wrong with the card I used and there's plenty of cash in the bank.

Although its not the exact same photo frame, the Toshiba TekBright frame got a best buy in Which.

Mike_The_Tv

Ditto Laze! Both my tries at ordering failed too. Seems they have a problem or are out of stock. Should be expired until their site can accept orders.

Fantastic, glad I returned this thread. I really need to find out more about how that works. There seems to be a caveat about a need to disable directX for the "subdisplay" to work better.

This would make a super little screen showing just gadgets, a music player, pc stats and such. I'm very tempted now.

Just ordered one. The first attempt failed, claimed rejected by bank, this one I had set up to be delivered to my work. The second time I set up to be delivered to home and it worked fine.

Possible that Toshiba/bank will not accept order to a delivery address other than the card holders address. Quite common on first orders from sites to reject based on this.

Mike_the_TV

I bought one - absolutely fantastic (have other ones and this is much better). Was about to buy another but the deal has expired.

Cheers - ended up buying one and it arrived yesterday. Very nice bit of kit for the money.

got one too..havent had time to switch it on and try it...will post back later this weekend

Hi guys,

I got one of these last month.

It's pretty good overall. The main thing I wanted to use it for was as screen extension to watch iPlayer etc. Works fine with XP, but there is some ammendem regarding Vista in with the manual (think it can only do clone, and not extension...or the other way round - sorry, will check later!)

It does work, however the frame rate is poor (assume the refresh rate is low...?) - not really good enough for video, but it's pretty good for web pages and I have got used to the frame rate. Guess I should have gone for a Samsung UbiSync, but these are thrice the price!

Resolution is very good, and as my photos are genearlly 4:3 its petty than get a wide-screen (800 x 480) and then losing pixels with cropping. Touch buttons are ok, not the best.

Let me know if you have any more questions
