errrrmm these were £50 at play.com not long ago...

This is not far off the price before HD DVD died, if looking for one of these I'd check if Comet still have stock at 60 quid as I think Play are out of them now.

John

fool's april joke?

ha ha ha ha ha I just actually voted an HD-DVD cold.

Have you been on the sherbert?

 @ Starlight - this is the model we have all been buying for like £49.99 with 2 free HD-DVDs

Never realised they were £250 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hold my hands up, cold votes welcome..

Good One. Makes sure everyone is paying attention. Voted colder for fun. All the best.

And where does the "blue laser player" fit into this?

HD-DVD uses red lasers - Blu-ray uses blue lasers. And this player does not play blu-ray. So therefore NOT a "blue laser player".

I think its terrible when companies keep selling HD DVD without stating that its old technology. Im not against buying HD DVD if its cheap but companies need to start stating that its superceded technology. This price is ridiculous also.

It definitely uses blue lasers, dvd uses red, the two hd formats are both blue.

Colder than a very cold thing!

Should retailers now tell buyers that a certain product is badly designed, badly made or just terrible? It is up to consumers to make informed decisions on what they spend their hard earned cash on.

If they are incapable of doing this basic task, they will always end buying stuff that is not appropriate

think of it as a very expensive dvd player with a free hd-dvd feature!!

Colder than the arctic. I paid £49.99 @ Play like most people.

Still playing HD DVDs fine? I thought HD DVD was supposed to have died so they shouldn't work?

Mine are also playing along all happily too. Must just be us I guess.

Even now they are available at John Lewis at £99 and that would be a cold deal on its own!!!

Laughing so much my ribs are hurting!:-D

Why should it not be working still? The format doesn't self destruct just because it is obsolete does it?
