I bought this last week.

Almost £100 cheaper, and very similar specs...

Good call - in fact the medion one you mention even has a better graphics card than this, according to notebookcheck:

I'm not a brand snob, but come on! A Medion versus a Toshiba.....

Medion has 24 months warranty, Toshiba has 12. Obviously I've got no idea of the build quality of the Toshiba, but mine arrived yesterday and seems well built.

One of the reasons for purchase was a glowing pcadvisor review - pcadvisor.co.uk/rev…360

Looks good to me. Similar specs to my Dell XPS16 I paid 1100 quid for 6 months ago (and is the worst machine I've ever owned).

looks good, pcadvisor did give it a good review but was very lacking in detail.
for me one of the most important things is the keyboard flex which seems to be unmentioned in that review - how do you find it?

and ati V Nvidia, no wonder its cheaper!!

Toshiba generally come out close to top or top in reliability surveys.

Medion are a pretty small player, but from what I have seen they come out in the middle at best.

Great spec, apart from the netbook resolution screen.

You're right. Can't believe people would chose a toshiba.

Da-dum cha.

Medion are not well built, if yours doest not fall apart you are lucky. Medions will become decent in time imo but not now. I rarely like any laptop deals on here but this is a healthy spec for decent money, to be critical the screen size bugs me.

Regardless of screen size is this better than:

Gaming on an 11 inch screen. Not for me thanks.

Can this play games at full resolution?

sound specs, really want to try toshiba as its well rated for laptop.
would get this if i hadn't just bought a macbook pro ^ ^

tbh, the medion gpu is marginally better then the gt330m (about 50 3dmarks06 but nevertheless better...) how about cuda/physx?

would you pay £83 (not £100) more for the ability to walk-in store refund/warranty, better speakers, build quality from a reputable brand (medion being a budget laptop)?

its like KIA vs VW imho... if you on a budget, get the KIA (you get what you pay for...)

Given my past experience with laptops, I'd rather than a 2 year send-away warantee than a 1 year in-store.

To be honest with you, 99 out of 100 stores will send the thing away anyway so by buying online you effectively cut out the middle man. And a refund in a store? Are you kidding me? After 30 days its yours forever!

I'll vote this hot - but if I was spending the cash I'd probably go for the medion. (or more likely wait for a decent Dell outlet deal)

I don't know about Medion build quality / reliability but Toshiba aren't flawless either. This does at least look better quality than the the Medion and even the usual toshiba satellite pro 650s.

They're very different animals; if you work out what you want your lappy to do it'd help you decide...

Unleash the awesome power of the energy efficient Pentium! But seriously, doesn't that CPU really limit gaming? The GPU is fine, but playing any sort of game with basic physics on a CPU that can't even trump many celerons must be awful. I just bought a MSI GX740 for £920 from Scan which has a i5 450m and a mobile ati 5870 and even with an i5 that can hyperthread, I can tell it is the bottleneck when playing games. GTA 4 for example runs at between 15 fps and 80 fps on med/high settings, depending on how much physics is going on in the game.

the m11x even at 1366x768 struggles with gta4 with cpu at utilised at 98% lol

Just got this today, ordered it yesterday. Great serivce so far. AskDirect sent me an email this morning to give me a time when the delivery would arrive and it said it would be between 10.50am and 11.50am and it arrives at 11.20am. So all is good with them so far.

good stuff! let us know how you get on! if only i didnt have a laptop, we would be on the same boat!

was checking out laptops in pc world and there was a a660 range one there
keyboard seemed really nice and solid apart from the right hand size above the dvd drive, basically from ENTER key and across. (noticed the same on sony EA/EB keyboards)
how is anyone that bought this finding theirs?

was in checking L650 and L670 range keyboard and tbh they all had variable amounts of flex but the base keyboard build on a660 was alot nicer.
