As far as my limited technical knowledge about laptops goes, this is a 4th generation i3 (?) which looks good value. At Argos reduced by £100 from £449.99 -> £349.99.

Can anyone explain why this is going cold, I want a laptop for my son but haven't got a clue what to buy

It looks a fair price for what it is, but I wouldn't say a hot deal.

Is it for gaming or more basic use? What is your budget?

personally i think it is a good deal for an i3 4th generation toshiba laptop. it may not stack up against the cheaper brands like asus or acer but for reliability i think it is worth paying a little bit more for toshiba.

it is very tempting to go for the acer on here which is at the same price but has an i5 processor so if you are not fussy about brand, then the acer seems better value. i can't find a cheaper comparable toshiba 4th generation i3 any where else.

any good for low end gaming?

i am tempted by this one at currys/pc world which looks fine for photo editing and low end gaming according to the spec. this may suit you better? not a bad price if you have priority moment which gives a further £20 off.

Brand doesn't matter just want one to last 3 years that he can use for everyday stuff as well as his uni work, his last one was crap kept over heating and felt really plasticky

yes. i agree. but the RAM I guess is pretty important for games.

This is now £279. Methinks a good buy at that price?
