Points to consider

- It is much more cheaper than the ]Samsung NC10, with the only main difference that the ]Samsung NC10 has Bluetooth where the ]Toshiba NB100 has not, but it's quite literally the same machine and the same technical specification.

I was looking through the manual for the ]Toshiba and found some pretty interesting and exciting features that may be upgradeable on the same machine.

- Wireless WAN (Mobile Broadband Dongles) gone! (Page 27)
- Sim Card Slot (Optional Device) (Page 20)
- Expandable memory achievable on Toshiba (MAX 2GB) but thats same for all the netbook models with the ATOM proccessor

Cashback

Apparently Buyers, can obtain cashback on their NB100 online by following this link

]Toshiba Cashback = £30.00

If anyone can add to this post, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Looks a deent price

The samsung also has a bigger 10.2 inch screen and 6 + hour battery life though which may be considered a main diffference. and important to some.

Samsung,Bigger with a bigger keyboard and better battery life, Toshiba is tiny with a glorous screen,Depends on what you want it for,I have the advent 4211 and am tempted to sell it to get the toshiba as i only really use it for surfing on the sofa and watching iplayer and the tosh seems the perfect choice for this,

but it's quite literally the same machine

No it's quite literally not.

The whole point of a netbook is its flexibility of being small in size unlike its predecessors (the 15" plus laptops) in addition to doing what it says on the tin: web surfin at its best. For what its worth I am seriously in contemplation to purchase, and I am quite intrigued at what Wireless WAN may have in store for me, since I am near always away from home, and flexibile internet usage would be ideal for me, and a small machine.

"Dagbladet" would you care to expand on the machine differences. I was merely talking about the gerneal specification of the machine(s) in comparison to Samsung V Toshiba's

I just returned the wife's today to comet as the hard drive failed after 27 day, how lucky just one day inside the 28 days returns  have too wait 2 days for a refund due to toshiba's returns process.:x

Is this a known Issue for the Toshiba? Or did you do anything to make the HDD fail? In general what do you think of the system aside from the HDD problem?

if you get one these and you got a N wireless router will it connect ?

TIA

Hi can't confirm it's a known fault but speaking to toshiba tech support they confirmed the hard drive was faulty over the phone, i did nothing to cause the hard drive too fail, it started with random freezes then complete failure to boot showing an error on screen "MBR 2FA".

The netbook was ok but nothing more, not a patch on the samsung NC10 i use, keyboard is very cramped and feels slow too use even with 2gb ram fitted runnig xp.

The toshiba wireless card is an 802.11 b/g and therefore it will not connect at N speeds (i really do not think that you need n speeds on a netbook) but if you go to the router setting page you will be able to choose what signal you router broadcasts and if you have a wireless n router and actually use N then set it to broadcast G and N if you dont use N then just set it to broadcast G.

For what its worth i think that the nc10 is a better netbook and worth the extra cash for the bigger screen, better keyboard, bigger hard drive and better battery life but if you are going to buy this machine i guess this is a bad price but you should have brought it a month back when you could have picked it up for £230

No, you stated that the Toshiba is "quite literally the same machine" which is incorrect and misleading.

now come on lets all be nice we pretty friendly bunch around here, if i am not mistaken Imti is in the market for a netbook at the moment and was probably hoping that someone would agree with their orginial comment to make their choice a bit easier but that was not the case as the nc10 is a better machine for the reason already pointed out.

if it was my money i would stick to the nc10 as a 6 cell batterly alone would take the price of the toshiba to a higher price than nc10
