2TB capacity, 7200rpm, 64MB buffer.

Seemed a good price considering that it's in eBuyer's "early Black Friday" sale for £54.99!

How's the reliability on these compared to the WD Blues?

I've had the 3TB versions for around 18 months now in my NAS. Seem to be holding up well! (Famous last words)

This one's red and WD is blue, so depends which colour you prefer

WD Blue are only 5400, this is 7200, this is the better drive for that reason,

I bought one last month for £54.99, unfortunately it has failed but Amazon sent me a next day replacement and the replacement is running fine, fingers crossed!

£54.99 from Ebuyer

What is the £83.97 supposed to signify?

The 3TB one has been around £70 (plus/minus £2) for ages, so £50-odd for 2TB looks like around the normal price. Any more expensive than this, and it would be more sensible to buy the 3TB.

you know, ive had 4 WD hdds including black , 2x blue, and red. and each one failed within 12 to 18 months or had a noise issue.

we do have an ok warranty but takes some time to get a replacement in my case.

all my drives are now barracuda drives and they're perfect for me

I had an article with in-depth analysis of long-term reliability of them. It was on my Seagate backup drive. Oh well.

I'm going-out on a limb here, I think it's the price.

The price of what? Certainly not this drive as these have always been about £60.

Bought 5 for use in a NAS, had one fail so far about 3 months after the 2 year warranty ended. Not bad I'd say?

Have owned 2 of these for over a year now. One is connected internally and the other I use with a hard drive caddy, no issues with either of them yet.

Be ok with that £10 Amazon voucher some are getting.

It's a typo in the title. It says £53.97 on the deal link and £83.97 in the title. Not sure if a mod can fix that...

Faster doesn't mean better. Slower drives usually outlast faster drives and I'd say for most people a 2TB hard drive isn't going to be an operating system drive (nothing is going to beat a SSD for that), so for data storage, 5400rpm wins for me.

I've had 1TB Toshiba 5400rpm drives that have been doing me well for years (famous... last... words!)

I do want to double a couple of my 1TB drives, if they brought the 2TB 5400rpm Toshibas to the fifty quid mark I'd bite.

How's the reliability on these compared to the WD Blues?

Personally I've had one running for hours each day for the past year or so. Never had an issue with it so I would say reliability is a key point, as for "better than WD Blues" I would say on par but depends on your luck and usage

9% 1 Star reviews on amazon, most because they broke within a few months of use.
