I have 2 Toshiba drives and they have both failed. Its not the hard drive that fails but the controller. A google will reveal that this is a very common fault.

yeah mine failed after 14 months but it was the hard drive at the time i bought it the 1TB (i know this is 1.5 TB) had just come out lost all my films ended up buying 2 500gb just to be on the safe side

mines ok, they have an issue tho... the warranty sticker breaks on its own. i sent 2 back to ebuyer (nightmare) but i gave up as i was in urgent need of the space. better than that iomega tat in any case, only got 3 months out of that one.

The insides are NOT Toshiba drives, mine was Western Digital.

Mine also stopped working, and I had to mount the drive in my desktop as a slave to access it, which kind-of negates the point of an external drive in the first place.

I hadn't noted that the fault of the power/controller is a common fault, I thought it was the drive at first, but if you have one and it fails, then either do as I did, or buy a new enclosure for about £15 to rectify the problem.

7200 rpm! that is cooool! heat added!

Slow as a week in the gaol.

Better to buy an eSATA or USB3.0 external case and shove in a SATA drive. Cheaper and much MUCH faster.

USB2.0 is awful especially when moving or copying BIG data. Almost brings Windows to a standstill.

These are TERRIBLE drives had 2 both failed

It lead to the person who posted it at the correct price as this deal is 3 weeks old & was not the correct price when I posted the link. The price has now gone back up, hence the other post has expired.

These always seem to get a bad rep for reliability.

My 250gb is working fine apart from the l.e.d on the front has gone. I rarely use mine though.

A decent deal but it might be worth paying that little bit extra for reliability...
