Very good price, there're selling this at Comet for £449.99 (lol!). Any more reviews on this TV? Does it come with any warranty?

Would've bought it instantly but the resolution doesn't impress me

I mangaed to get Comet to price match Richer Sounds with the 32XV555DB (1080p) for £349.99 yesterday.

Of course that only works, if you have a comet which is near a Richer Sounds, that has any stock.

Can any owners of this confirm that it definitely has Freeview?

Why do that?

Why do that?

What do you mean ?

Comet sell the Toshiba 32XV555DB for £449, Amazon sell it for £429 etc etc.

So I got Comet to price match Richer Sounds (Whose customer service call centre person had told me that there was no more stock in the country) at £349.

So I saved £100 on Comet's original price, and got a good 32" 1080p tv for £349.

If you mean, why go to Comet rather than Richer Sounds, then it's because their customer service line had previously told me that there was no stock, so I went to Comet to ask them if they'd match the price on Richer Sounds' website. In actual fact, Comet then phoned my local Richer Sounds store to ask them if they had stock and they said they had. So Richer Sounds were either lying to Comet about stock, or Richer Sounds' customer service telephone line were lying to me about stock.

Toshiba is still not supplying energy consumption figures. IMO, there must be a reason for that, it's probably high and therefore makes their tvs expensive to run.

Yeah sorry meant that, had RS had stock I'd imagine it better to buy there with their warranty price etc and fact Comet don't price match plus 10% of difference anymore.

it's not a full HD set, but shouldn't make too much difference at normal viewing distances

good deal op, definitely worth looking for a decent extended service agreement on a toshiba tho

91 mm is too thick - some newer models are half that.

Sorry but I can't have this bargain as it is too thick to place on my stand .

Popped into Richer at Oxford the other day and they have sold out nationally of the XV model - it was a great price! - only ex-display models left now.

I now that the XV has full power down on sleep mode but otherwise not sure...

There's some that are 1080p but you really cannot tell the difference between the two on a screen of this size. You need 1080p on 40"+ screens to see any noticeable difference. The more important question is what is the static contrast ratio, because that dynamic one means next to nothing.

Thats what I was going to say

No thats not the more important question; its a stupid question.
Static contrast ratio is meaningless, too. The value is whatever the manufacturer wants it to be

mamboboy, I thought that contrast ratios had no universal means of measuring them so were irrelevant?

How good would this tv be for PC usage and pc gaming. My 26" lcd dmtech finally gave up on me after 5 years.

Thanks
Nad

Not very good, ideally you'd want a 1080p TV (or even better a proper PC Monitor) for a decent resolution.

Thanks mate,

With my DMTECH the screen was 1366x768 i never had a problem with it using it on PC. Could it have been that it was a 26" .

I dont wanna spend too much, this was perfect for the price i was looking just dont knw wat all the numbers means theres so many models and choices out there.

There is one on fleabay called TOSHIBA 32XV503/5/55 -32" its 1080p what do think of this one, little over my budget at £369 plus £20 postage, Is it a old model or is it something worth getting, any input would be appreciated before i cant the leap.

Thanks
Nad

you need to look into how contrast ratio is measured then when you get a clue come back here and realise how stupid you sound when you talk about this subject

'The more important question is what is the static contrast ratio, because that dynamic one means next to nothing.'
Those are your words. You correctly thought that dynamic contrast ratio was meaningless, but you incorrectly thought that static contrast ratio was meaningful.
Somewhere between that post and your more recent posts you looked into it and realised that there is no meaning to static contrast ratio either.
You then changed your tune and said you have to see the TVs in action.

Don't listen to people who don't know ****. 720p is absolutly fine on such a small screen. I can't comment on the picture quality of this set, I suggest you research before you buy.

The deal mentioned by the op isn't 1080p, but the deal I mentioned (32XV555BD), is definitely a full 1080p set.

And 1080p does make a difference on a screen of this size if you're watching full hd content such as blu ray or 1080p games on a ps3, especially if like me, you're watching from about 6 feet away.
