It's definitely full HD. It came up in a post yesterday about the 37" version & I checked with Toshiba as there was some doubt. The RV has the 'Eco-panel', some additional inputs and better sound, but they are both 1080P.

As I understand it the AV555DB was standard 720 HD and the XV553/555DB was full 1080p HD.

However, a new range seems to have come about like this one (aesthetically they look square on the edges instead of being rounded) which all have the model number 635DB (instead of 553 or 555) and appear to be full 1080p HD across the range.

Looks a good price.

good find!

Exact same LCD as here only cheaper, right?

50Hz seems like a low refresh rate for full HD, I won't vote hot or cold as I don't know if this is a good price for this set, but I personally would be looking for a better refresh rate, sport events must look blurry on this set!

Can anyone point to any reviews of this TV or would definately recommend it over any other models as I'm seriously considering getting the credit card out.

Ok. I found the reviews posted on the above link. thanks

Guessing you're talking about the link I posted, if so you're welcome sir!

My Regza broke after only 6 weeks and Toshiba have been very slow to do anything about it. Their customer service, for the most part, has been absolutely appalling.

Unit has dropped to the same price at Amazon incase they prefer to shop at one over the other, it's crazy how much this thing is changing prices among all the stores, I checked it yesterday and it was £507.99, then today it was £529.99, and now £499.00.

Should have gone back to the place where you bought it from waving the 'Sale of Good Act' at them.

You'd probably have got it swapped for a new one on the spot.

Agreed, 50hz is far too slow for full HD

I bought it from an Ebay Store as brand new, they're a reputable seller who only trade in brand new TV's on there but they're based in Milton Keynes and I am in Manchester so I thought it would be easier to just go through Toshiba.

The chances are that I was most probably wrong.

Any bricks and motar store doing this for £500?

I've seen it said that this is a marketing gimmick on LCD TV's. Is 100hz really that much better? Hot price.

I'm wondering the same, if not I'll hold out until I can get a similarly specced LCD with 100HZ..some people say they can notice the difference, some say it's marketing etc...

I have a different 50Hz 1080p Toshiba. I nearly didn't buy mine because avforums are full of people going on about how awful 50Hz is and how anything fast looks blurred, which would have been awful for me as I'm a gamer. Absolute nonsense I'm pleased to say - the only blurring I have ever seen is when the source itself is blurred (ie you can pause it and it is still blurred, therefore it is nothing to do with the TV and would look blurred on any TV regardless of refresh rate).

So people who claim to be able to see blurring on 50Hz TVs must either have substantially better eyesight than me, or they don't know what they are talking about!

I think 100hz helps far more when watching sports rather than anything to do with gaming.

It's back at £529.00 now

I have a 50hz Samsung (52" 1080 set) and the only bluring I have seen is on crappy sd football feeds..........:whistling:

Golf on good sd feeds (BBC, Sky & Setanta while they were on the go) are/were fine.
