I really like the look of this TV. This model from Play is the 32AV555D - does anyone know why everywhere else it is known as the 32AV555DB? Is there any reason for the lack of the "B" on the end of the model number?

Thanks. Heat added

I think the diference in model numbers is due to the different safety tests done in the UK and Irland, this is to track which models are sold were to ensure it's legal to trading standards under European R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC.

You see it alot with many ecectrionics.

come on guys is this worth getting or worth holding out for something better, need o get 32 inch for nans bedroom

BUY IT! I got this just before Christmas for £100 more. Love the TV, great pic after a bit of tinckering with the settings. I am very fussy and it took me ages to chosse but am really pleased.

Hot deal OP

thanks for input, what have you got connected? my nan wants sky HD, im assuming this will handle it very well

I got one of the 32AV555DB Version from Comet over the Easter period (was priced at £299)

Nice picture for SD Freeview (all it will be used for), BUT the freeview picture kept on cutting out, sound would continue, but the screen would go black for a couple of seconds. This was very intermittent.

Took it back and replaced for same model, next one did the same. Had an aerial engineer out who said antenna was fine (2 other TV's in house work perfectly)

TV went back, refunded and got a Sony. Zero problems with this.

Not voting either way, just informing of Issues I have encountered.

This is HD ready not full HD. I bet the next thing either you or someone else ask' is whats the difference?

BTW "B" at the end of a model number normally denotes BLACK (the colour of the unit).

Bought one of these recently to replace my previous Samsung LCD, and the picture quality is outstanding! Far better than the 18month old Samsung it replaced which surprised me! Would defo recommend this!

I believe you're the first person to mention Full HD in this thread ;-)

Need a new TV for the living room. Can't decide between this or the LG that was posted the other day for £299...arghh

I got this from CDiscount at same price but with £60 vouchers back a couple of weeks ago:p

Yeah B does mean black on most items but 32AV555D AND 32AV555DB are Both black anyway!! its just different model number because 1 is sold all around europe and thats the 32AV555D model

Well talking to to experts on the Toshiba technical support line they said there the exact same model apart from the 32AV555DB is the uk model based which sells in the uk and the other 1 sells all around euope, maybe it is due to safety tests aswell but he didnt mention anythink about that, apart from just telling me what i've said above

Well talking to major tv repair shops etc they said that the toshiba is the least that comes in for repairs and they own a toshiba them selfs, also most of them said the samsung is good and said stay away from LG! i rang up random shops to see what they think and they all recommended toshiba! Cheap, stylist, good features etc

Play.com and electricals purchases..........I am sure theres something different with the returns policy with Play due to them being based off shore...

Something like 3 months rather than a year??? Can anyone state the facts on this please, as I feel its worth pointing out with regards any high value / electrical purchase made from Play.com

I wouldnt say that on this site, your advice will be at least 46" for a living room. 32" TVs are just for bedrooms :whistling:

I've always been a Toshiba customer as well but now they've done this I'm moving my money elsewhere
