OK, the deal back on. Cheap refurb laptop, yes, slow CPU, but OK for basic tasks/kids use.
Buy 2 and get 20% off 2nd one, brings it down to £99 each

I bought one a couple of months ago, looked brand new. Just remove all of the installed bloatware programs, speeds things up a bit

Great deal thanks OP

I never gonna buy refurb again..hot for price

Please note it's a Grade B refurb - it says it might be 'cosmetically challenged' lol!

Argos ones I've found to be simple returns by customers changing their mind as they look brand new. Argos eBay give a full 12 month warranty too and if you're not happy with condition of laptop they will let you return it at no cost if they haven't listed it correctly.

I returned an Argos refurb laptop for free last month, simply because I changed my mind. Free returns always, I think.

My ref laptop from argos was like this- no wifi, only if you stay at max 1m from router, 2 min for loadin windows ..and after 4 days, as a bonus screen flickering, contacted argos and I received an answer after 6 working day, when they answer it, I already sent item back etc etc, indeed free return, but..sometimes is more a pain in the a.. instead a deal..I guess I wasnt lucky:)

would probably snap this up, but i'm waiting on my 20% code on Ebay before i get a laptop.
wanted to spend £200-£300 on something much better, but this is a bargain, and would suit its purpose.
oh well, gonna wait a while.

Horrific laptops, but you can't moan for a ton. Heat.

No one even considering to buy this is seriously thinking about upgrading the CPU, it would be a waste of a laptop for the CPU... For most people it doesn't even matter, people mistakenly think CPU is responsible for the speed of "normal" use (read this browsing, starting programs etc...) when actually ssd and internet speed are at this level far more important.

I have upgraded my sisters laptop which uses AMD E1200 (one of the weakest CPU on the market) and after putting an ssd in it it is flying,...

I would recommend this for this one as well...

It is crazy that you can get a full size laptop for that price at all...

just sent one of these back - bought for the wife but the laptop is very slow and not fit for purpose

I can understand this, but have you tried/considered putting an ssd into it? I mean you can't expect much from a 100£ machine, at least not unless you are prepared to do some work around it.

I often get people asking me what is the best machine, but I don't want to spend much or to tinker with it. The answer in my opinion is get an expensive machine or get annoyed for the next 2 years by multiple issues that you don't want or can't fix.

Computers are very complex beings and loads of stuff goes wrong as normal even though you don't notice it because you are not using this specific feature at the time...

I can practically guarantee that you won't find a perfect (for you) machine under 300£ unless you work on it and improve it a bit or have someone to do this for you once in a while...

There are simply to many models varying in hardware that with best intentions it is unlikely to play smoothly unless someone paid real attention to it and that rarely happen with cheap machines..

Argos refurbs if it turns on it is fixed.

If you have to mess about that much just spend the extra on a better laptop in the first place

Thanks for posting, tempted to buy this for my Mum. She only uses Facebook, eBay and sends the occasional email. Should be more than adequate for her.

Bought the toshiba l50 recently and has serious wifi range problems. Googling it shows its a toshiba wide problem

Note for future listings. The warranty relates to the condition. This unit is listed in the 20% discount promo section because it is Grade B. All Currys PC World Grade B units have a 6 month warranty. Only new or Grade A units have 1 year warranty.

This unit has now sold out. There has been several mentions of the Argos 1 year warranty, so I hope that has not confused buyers into thinking that applied to this unit. There is only a 6 month warranty on this unit so if not acceptable it could obviously be returned.
