I linked to the Currys website, but here's the PC World version if you prefer:

Excellent price

Decent battery life too.

I am pretty sure this is the one I got last year in Staples, which came with a good bundle.

If so its a very good laptop for the money, the U processor rather than M is superior power wise iirc, (most laptops use M).

Just personally would be a bit unsure about getting a refurbished laptop.

Small correction, most new laptops(which aim to be ultrabooks) use M3,M5,M7 chips, which are best for battery life and are not very powerful, (still plenty powerful enough for most users) U chips make a good balance while QM are fastest mobile chips (usually quad core, whereas U is dual core).

A mess with Intel's naming conventions...

All in all a good laptop, but for this price for a refurbished I would much prefer 1080p over i5 instead of i3 and I would swap the hdd for ssd...

Quick correction for you. Intel 5th generation i-3/5/7 are only in U/H/HQ designations.

The U series are 15w parts, that is such the TDP (Thermal Design Power) allows for performance and clock speeds that conform to this power envelope.

They can however be configured down to as low as 7.5w, albeit with lower headline clock speeds, obviously keeping the same features.

The H/HQ are performance parts, with a TDP of 47w, again these can be configured to 37w, again lowering the click speed. The H/HQ tend to have the new Iris 6200 graphics built also.

Thanks for the info, my information is a bit outdated, as in most cases you can't really upgrade a cpu I didn't pay attention to how exactly the naming conventions changed...

I hope this helps someone: I literally just returned this last week after only owning it for about 3weeks. The price is very tempting but the toshiba refurb did not prove to be reliable. I'm a student and bought these for my exams. It froze all the time, serious trackpad issues until the mouse/trackpad stopped working all together. Its a good looking laptop but thats of no use if the main hardware of the laptop doesnt work...

I've exchanged it for the new Lenovo, similar specs (8gb/1TB/i3) at the same price £299, that someone posted on here last week. It hasnt arrived yet but if anybody needs the code would be happy to help.

A bit misleading, saying its superior power wise.. it would be better to say its more power efficient, the M processors are more powerful, as in faster at the expense of power consumption.
