Is the processor any good?
No it's slow as hell, we got one a few month back and honestly it's terrible I'd rather pay more for a better spec laptop.. Even browsing the web is slow on it.
2.4ghz quad core is slow ?

snakey.... it must be your laptop.. (software needs reinstalling).

8gb of ram with a AMD quad core processor is fast no matter which brand of laptop its shipped with.
Reading the Amazon reviews it sounds very glitchy and prone to over heating and crashing. Would need a good warranty otherwise risky buy.

Knowing my luck pal it's prolly something like that haha it's the missus laptop I just stick to my gaming PC, I've told her to get it looked at but she won't.

Not a fan of clock speed being thrown about like this, the architecture of the processor and how it manages threaded tasks is what's important, Intel are way and beyond AMD in nearly every case the two extra cores are nice but most everyday applications won't utilise them.
MEGA HEAT!

Brilliant find Kris.. this is actually £105 cheaper than they were in the BF/CM deal price range ;-)

Just chuck windows 10 build 547 on it and it will fly like a bird.. at half the price!!!

Can't beat a bit of Asda Toxic stock clearance before black friday deals..

I was told they are clearing stock nationwide due to new stock coming for christmas .

Sure the "real" reason will differ from store manager to store manager! But it is around now and for
the next 2 weeks that all the low stock, old stock, finds in the stockroom items have to go.. hence
the toxic stock ;-)

As for the tosh's they are a cracking bit of kit for £300+ let alone £200 each!

Fantastic deal if you can find it!!

Personally I'd pay the bit extra and get this laptop as it has twice the ram and an apu. Should be able to handle most games at low settings if that's what you're looking for. Don't think you'll find anything better at this price.

I like the build quality of the toshiba's and the guts are normally very bullet proof as well.. as for the power V price..

This *might* help you choose if you can find either ;-)

Thanks for the replies, it's the Toshiba I have managed to find and just wanted to know if it was worth the extra £50.
regarding "slowness", just upgrade to windows 10, then wipe and do a clean install. job done.

You must be kidding. Toshiba C series, C660, C850, C50 and L series are about as cheap as you can get build wise. The same goes for all cheap Asus laptop models.

Windows 10 is definitely not noticeably faster than 8 and has significantly more issues than 8 ever had in terms of stability. I'd wait until the November update before upgrading. Windows 10 is a screw up currently. It's a free apology for Windows 8, but 8.1 update 1 fixed most of the issues with 8.

The things I really hate about Windows 10 are the absolutely appaling looking interface and those crappy icons, dear God even a 5 year old could do a better job. Worst still is the user interface which it seems Microsoft still don't have a clue about. There's now the old style Control Panel and a new Settings panel, this makes it hideous to use as it's a bungled mess. Even changing resolution has been made harder, right clicking on the desktop, they've changed the order of settings, so you end up accidentally choosing personlise instead of display settings.

Performance is poor in comparison to Windows 8.1, even on a dual quad core workstation with 32GB RAM which I'm using to write this, the performance is sub par compared to Windows 8.1. Cortana is crap and so is the search box which is laggy.

The design of Windows 10 is marginally better than Windows 8.1 (no hidden menus on left and right of screen) and notification panel, but consistently worse in other areas e.g. dual settings panels and messed around settings.

lets face it all the people commenting the negative as still going to go hunting for this
regardless
Just paid £330 for one of these elsewhere with an intel pentium quad core same ram. Gutted!
OP .. you bought 2 of these sexy beasts, but never once mentioned which Asda Store you saw and then bought them from too? lol.

Which Asda Store please?, or are these National ..... (as I want 2 too!) lool, thanx. :-)
I bought mine from Glasgow Fort, none in Robroyston or Bishopbriggs although Bishopbriggs did have the Medion but it was open box so possible ex-display.
good price for decent laptop
To shine make awful laptops. I have 2. Both terrible. 1 is only 14 months old and has a faulty drive and faulty keys. Both have very little use which is annoying. I would stay clear.
Anyone thinking of going to the Forest Town ASDA - don't bother! Just got back and they haven't had any of the deals there (despite being a massive one).
How much are you asking for them on ebay OP?

Dont get me wrong, some of the windows candy is rubbish, but running it here with a dual core and 6GB ram, is blindingly quick, especially from a clean install. I've put in SSDs too.

Don't moan about that price. Not bad for Intel quad core!
As an aside, Asda are also selling their medion laptops at £80 from £240. Low spec but outstanding price.

does it run Kodi?
Just picked one up @ asda Sheffield Handswoth, many thanks to op

Phoned my big asda up first, and asked what laptops were in stock for a max price of £200.
Nice assistant said she would check stock and ring back - within 10 mins had callback with stock details

CPU clock speed is irrelevant these days. For general use like browsing FB etc then that is more than enough processing power. They probably have loads of bloatware running on it from the manufacturers.
