Can you add £50 to your price please.

It's been extended to August, follow the toshiba cashback link in the post above to see which laptops are eligible

You can't rely 100% on Quidco either, so including that isn't really appropriate either :-(

It doesn't mention any extension so is a risk, IMO

Generally Quidco is reliable, but I for one have had some problems in the past. Generally on this site, Quidco is seen as an excellent extra, but not included in the figures - good luck to you if you get it, but it's not a cert.

Toshiba - Great piece of kit, good price. Can't go wrong with a Toshiba!!!!. HOT:thumbsup:

More info on the graphics card ]here.

132nd out of 200 mobile cards tested. Not bad at that price.

:pirate:CJ:pirate:

thought CB cant be included in the price

Go to a shop and have a look at the Toshiba L300 series. They have a very weak lid and a broken screen is not covered by the warranty. Read many customers complaining about the screen braking. I decided for HP/Compaq because of that. If you don't carry around alot and be careful not to put anything on top when closed on your desk (books, etc.) it maybe ok. For transport you definately need a hard case.

Surely as Windows 7 is stand-alone install only, this means that you will lose all your info between now and then as you cant actually upgrade it?

No, your Windows settings are transfered with your upgrade (as long as you have Vista now). If you have Windoes XP, you need to backup yourself.

I had a look at the Toshiba site and I'm afraid there is no cash back on this model from Oyyy. (There are other supplying the same laptop with cashback - but not from Oyyy).

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300D-202. I find the lid perfectly fine. For the money you won't find a better laptop - In my opinion. Build quality, reliabilty and spec per £ - all in all a great buy. But each to their own I suppose . .;-)

Where did you read that? I can not see anything within t&c's about oyyy being excluded or anything in the slightest bit to that effect.

The terms and conditions make no mention of specific retailers, and the Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-292 is on the list of qualifying products. So if you could clarify the reasons for your opinion that Oyyy are excluded from the offer then please do.

Well, excluding your repeated posts about the L300, I could only find two web references about broken L300 screens, one was by someone complaining that their machine had broken within three days with Toshiba refusing to fix it and the other by someone who had their screen broken when their friend stepped on it whilst dancing a highland jig.

Can you give us some pointers to where these other "many" customer complaints are?

2Gb memory but the graphics use system memory too, so depending on how much you allocate to that, you'll end up with much less.

It has some good points but its not really standing out as a must buy. The spec is dating fast.

The 2GB ram and 160GB HDD are weak points but for £384.12 (or less with cash-back) you are not going to get a better CPU than a T5870 or a newer integrated GPU than the 4500MHD. In fact is there a newer Integrated graphics processor than the 4500MHD?

I've been looking for three weeks now for a replacement for my wife's cooked Dell D600 and this is by far the sweetest spec I've found for less than £400. The cash-back makes it a sweet deal and I might buy tomorrow.

Is this a better deal than this:

ebuyer.com/pro…845

I'm not too fussed about graphics card, I only really play football manager - but I do watch a lot of movies.

Whats the better laptop?

Thanks

Ok looking at the graphics first. A game like Call of duty 4 on the lowest resolution with the lowest graphics settings is going to give you an average of 14fps. So lets be clear this is a garbage GPU for 3D acceleration of any kind. To put it another way this scores 134 in 3D mark 05. Compare that to a GeForce 9200/9300M GS which scores 3359/3477 but that might not be important if 3D accelerated anything is not important to you, but its worth knowing just how bad it is in case it is. No new sims games on this lappy!

I did a bit of price checking and i'm actually surprised how highly priced so many laptops still are. I've been looking at the Netbook market too much I think. So I take it back that this is a bad deal for the speed of the cpu/memory and hd space. It's actually quite good. I was able to find a Toshiba Satellite L300-1BVd for £329 without any cash back hassle but the spec is not the same T1600 Processor,2GB RAM,160GB HDD,15.4" Screen Size,DVDRW Optical Drive,Vista Home Premium OS so I'd have to do some real digging to try and beat this.

All in all I stand corrected. Decent laptops are still flippin expensive.

Edited this in

ebuyer.com/pro…692
This would be as low spec as I'd want to go for a laptop £399 This will at least have a go at playing games or using anything with 3d acceleration, like say Vista/Windows7 ui and the extra memory is going to help when you end up devoting 512mb of system memory to the graphics. Giving you a reasonable 2.5gb of system memory to play with.

can anyone confirm the cashback position on this - as if you click on the cashback link it does take you to the toshiba site confirming that cashback is available on this mode.

the only sign regarding cashback not being available is on the onnyx site itself and i assume thats simply because they were not aware that toshiba had extended their cashback deal to cover august

I have been looking at the specs .- is it right you can upgrade the RAM to 8GB? If so, are there any deals on a 64-bit OS to make use of the extra RAM?

Don't know about the 8GB but the answer to your question about a deal on a 64bit OS is in the thread title :-)

Mine arrived yesterday, ordered late Fri night and chose free 5 working day delivery... Very happy so far... And in response to Pet2000; Lid doesn't seem flimsy, cashback already tracked with quidco and Oyyy said they can't see any reason what so ever I should not recieve cashback from Toshiba....

My wife's arrived yesterday and now has Windows 7Evaluation running very nicely. Haven't had much time to play with it except set up the OS and drivers but I think it is excellent for the price. Quidco tracked instantly and the cash-back looks like it won't be a problem. It feels quite solid and well put together, hinges and screen/lid are fine. Overall it feels much better quality than my Dell Inspiron 6400, depending on how reliability holds up I think I may be a Toshiba convert.
