Looks good to me

Hmmm. Good price but no touchscreen. The Asus S200 costs only a little more.
Toshiba - good build quality.

The Asus seems much nicer but the 11.6" screen makes it more difficult to do work and run office on. I would go for 13" at a minimum for this.

everyone is going on about touchscreen. I have touchscreen tablet and I just love connect my bluetooth mouse and keyboard. With touchscreen after a while your hands get tired of moving them constantly and your screen is full of fingerprints

you know the difference between a laptop and a netbook right ?

suprised it's not more hot is there a reason?

Looks like a great spec for the price.

Make sure 13" is ok for him and you do not need an optical drive

Oh if only this had Win 7! Can't stand touchscreens, banned now at work because between multiusers they get smeared and obstruct view. Give me a waterproof / cleanable keyboard and mouse any day and a decent user interface that we are used to!

Okay thanks. 15" may be better for him.

The only two things I would suggest is make sure he is OK with a 13" screen. also, if your son is much of a Gamer/highly intensive application user (Photoshop, after effects.. ect), the i3 processor would considerably struggle, in which I would recommend looking for a core i5 or something similar

If you want touch screen then get yourself a tablet and put a screen protector on it. I have a note, and it's fine no finger prints. Mind it's allot slower these days, as of all the apps on it(nothing to do with the tablet), I need to clear out. Where as I have just got an i5, and it isn't touch screen. Why didn't I get one, because where as a touch screen on a tablet has it's flexibility, a laptop isn't the same, and you would incur smears on the screen. This would become frustrating after a while, or so I figured. Hence why I got better buck for bang going for an i5 cpu You can get touch screen around 170 on argos ebay outlet. I am not sure if it is an over kill on an i3

Touchscreen..... Really?

IMO, laptops (windows) and touchscreen just don't 'work' atm. Maybe in the future but there's no need/real use of it atm,

If this was typed on your touchscreen then you definitely have a spell checker problem.

How do you know?

Saw this last night in store and was debating it al night. I'm a videographer and need something small to go in my camera bag. I'm sure in Argos it says it has 6gb ram too argos.co.uk/sta…htm

I'd go for it but a bit worried about it running Adobe Premier comfortably

Tesco owner reviews suggest it has 6Gb RAM.......

Good Spec but, no DVD writer...

The argos unit has a 2ed gen I3 this unit has a 3rd gen I3 with 4000HD graphics, much better, agreed this unit is 6GB.

I have just ordered - hopefully it has 6GB as advertised, will know when I get it - good price anyway and was looking for a new laptop for the mrs.

Is this included in the Toshiba trade-in promotion? If so that's potentially another £75 off.

Would it be any good for all my Sims 3 games? I'd be downloading games from Origin but my game CD case recommends a 2Ghz processor.

Stickers on box state these have been upgraded to 6GB.

Errr, how do you know?

I've ordered and will return if its not!

so is the RAM 6gb? really confused. Anyway it's pretty easy and cheap to upgrade RAM so it shouldn't really matter too much i guess

is there a Haswell version?

Yep, they will give £75 for trading in this laptop

he trade-in amount depends on the new Toshiba laptop purchased:

Intel® Core™ i3 Laptops £75

Great! My ageing Acer Aspire (checked last week and Toshiba accept it) is creaking and the £75 on offer is better than prices on eBay plus it's less hassle.

I bought a very similar spec one last week from Argos outlet. The only difference is that it has a DVD drive. That had 6GB ram. Very good spec and build quality for the price, much better than Asus.

great deal for me, great spec for the price

I have an i3 from about 3 years ago. Would this be much of an improvement?

Banned

The Toshiba website states only 2GB of RAM, as that is what the units originally came with. These have been upgraded especially for Tesco - I know as I work for Toshiba!

I would have bought this if it had win7.
