It may not be the best laptop on this earth, but it's cheap!

The Direct link isn't working, so the correct link is here
Well done Aimee on your first deal!

Heat and Rep Added.

:pirate: CJ :pirate:

EDIT: Don't forget Quidco too!

Reviews from recent customers seem good. Decent price. Any Play.com codes about? (Hee hee).
PS - the link needs correcting as an extra http in there.

Thanks for your help, I will try better next time. Practice makes perfect!
I agree, not the best laptop on the market but for people with a budget i think it is a 'hot deal'. Not bad reviews either and with Vista pre loaded. :-D

Hi Aimee1985. Welcome to HUKD. please try not to create merchants that are already in the list There are a few help threads in my sig :-D

Nice find. In future can you trim the spec down so that listing doesn't take up half the page.

Good cheapo starter laptop. + it has 1gb Ram, - its a celeron.
I'll vote this warm

For £100 more you can get a duo core Toshiba + printer from pcworld. -ve less ram for £399

weigh up the pro and cons

Is this the same one that went up to £349.99 a few days ago after being £299.99?

yes its the very same one! as i saved the link in explorer waiting for it to go back down cheers for the repost as just bought 2 hurry up and buy before they put them up again!

I reckon this is really good. Hoted hot and repped, 1 gig of Ram (even though it's put in afterwards) is more than ideal for a starter laptop. Toshiba name s well, seriously i don't think any thing on ebuyer comes close to this for the price

Sorry cant remember how to add to rep.....

kobirulali

Actually ebuyer had a very similar offer on the very same laptop  . 289 quid on a Toshiba T30, without the extra 512 though :whistling:

Sold faster than cold lemonade on a hot summer day

Not bad for a Toshiba with 1GB RAM. Hot for sure

It's good for the price, for those with just the basic computing needs and a very tight budget.

For £41 more you can get a dell inspiron 1501 with a dual core processor. Or you could try your luck with the dell outlet store.

Don't forget to use
Discount voucher code: YBTBBMBGLK for a fiver off of this, and some potential cashback as well through whichever site you use.
£294 is pretty good but it is entry level - and you do have to fit the second half gig of RAM yourself.

You would also have to add £35.25 (not sure if VAT is also included) to bring the screensize of the Dell up to the same size as the toshiba 15.4inch.

Great first post Aimee1985 !! Welcome to HUKD

I'm gonna go for this myself (my first laptop)!

The front page post was very long so i've taken some of the info and quoted it in post 4.

Seems a good price, you could get a better spec refurb for not much more!

Voted Warm!

As seancampbell said, Don't forget the £5 off voucher, Makes it a bit cheaper!

could you give me an example of notebook like that??? Everything looks allright in this one but 60GB is not very much...

A great deal

I think people may be overlooking thinking that a Dell will come along.

Personally I think Toshes are better.

For those who bought it:

I need a computer for everyday basic needs (internet, music, movies and sometimes games). Is is suitable for these needs?

Check this one out, has the same processor but Vista Home Premium and an extra 20gb HD!

dixons.co.uk/mar…665

P.S. Theres a voucher for Dixons that gets you £15 off a £300 spend! So it would be £309!

play.com laptop is brand new item, whereas dixons is selling a refurbished item, that's a big difference there!

@onlybarca: this would be good enough for all your needs (except most 2006/2007 games--older games would run OK).

We bought this laptop a couple of weeks ago, when it was on offer at ebuyer(£2.99), but instead of the free 512 mb ram, ebuyer were giving away a laptop case.
We then bought an additional 512mb to stick in it at an additional cost of £20.
The laptop is great for basic everyday needs, and the play.com deal is a better offer, so go for it.
The only problem i have with ours is that it comes with vista basic home edition....and i hate it. I think we're going to strip it off and stick xp on it.

The only problem I can see is Windows Vista:? Is it possible to buy this item with Windows XP?

excuse my ignorance, but does it have a dvd rewriter? I guess it does from some of the software bundled with it but am a bit of a technophobe so can't be sure?

Was after a laptop just to use internet (ie could it cope with betfair?) or word processing, would this do nicely or should I plump for a Dell?

It's for any order over £50.

Type : DVD Super Multi (Double Layer) drive so yes it does have a dual layer re-writer inc. Will easily handle surfing and word processing. Would just be slow with photo editing/ unsuitable for serious gaming.

Not with play.com - you'd need to buy it reformat drive then install your own copy of xp at cost - probably not worth it unless you have a liscence laying around.

I posted this originally

I bought this laptop off ebuyer a few weeks ago for £289.00 with a carry case. its a great laptop ideal if you just want a basic one

does anyone have any idea what the battery life is like?
