Have been looking for a decent 1080p upscaling DVD player, and this looks just the job for £50 (its currently £79.99 with play.com)

It says :

....so unless they are lying, I guess it does upscale dvds to 1080p, and not USB sources!

yeah, but it won't work. you can plug in any usb device, but unless the hardware is setup to work with it, it won't work. the usb will be for flashdrives to play divx and jpg's, and will probably be limited to FAT32 and probably 4gig in size

And DVDs are not 1080i either, but you seem ok accepting this can upscale to 1080i.

According to the Toshiba website, this player can upscale a DVD to 1080p.
I trust them, rather than you.

I bought the unit for £48ish.

Well worth the price.
