What do you expect for 20 quid? An industrial fan?

lol. Can you be more impolite? I hate people like you who just make everything a fight and overuse sarcasm.

I was just to point out a fact which can be easily mistaken if the dimensions are not checked carefully.

Mines is fairly quiet too, it's not loud enough to bother me and I fall asleep every night with it on, I did open it up to clean it and sprayed WD40 on the moving parts and found it now goes a lot faster and maybe just a tad quieter, maybe worth a go as it's only a few screws.
This is a small fan. Not full size. Do not be mistaken.

I have one similar to this and it makes a strange clicking noise while rotating. Is that normal or is it a defect?

Anyone's recommended a better, slightly bigger fan that's quieter with a remote please
TheDobbus18/05/2020 21:10

If anyone can recommend a nice looking quiet fan, I'd be grateful

I got this one from John Lewis a couple of weeks ago for my study.
8 levels, 1-3 are pretty quiet, i.e. I can't really hear it over the noise of my PC / outside world from about a metre away.

OOS at the moment unfortunately but I'm sure I've seen somebody else doing an almost identical one.

It always baffles me. How many people new new fans? Did they not buy one last year? If you think about it, it's a puzzle lol
this is a good fan, i have one at home.
Bought an Oscillating fan (not this one specifically) a few years ago to try cool my room in the summer.
Didn't work at doing that. I bought it knowing this, and that these type of fans dont cool rooms, just blow cold air.
Not for cooling rooms down in the hot weather

No - but they're pretty good at cooling down hot, sticky people in summer. Air conditioners are great for cooling rooms, fans for cooling people

This. It takes a while to get used to but I can deal better with constant noise than random noise. So if neighbours noisy (or the time we had mice/rats in the attic) I put the fan on to listen to instead.

My theory has always been any new noise is seen as a threat but then we get used to it. I used to live next to a police station in south london... sirens all night! I then went back to my parents' house in yorkshire and couldn't sleep as missed the sirens lol
