"OK.....I suspect you will be thinking the same as me I.e. Blue equals COLD and Red equals HOT? WRONG!!!!!!!
Apparently, on this kettle Red means I am switched on and heating, Blue means I am not switched on. Thing is, it turns blue immediately it cuts off after boiling. Result, you have a kettle sitting with water hot enough to scald you, displaying a universally understood blue equals cold colour. And, the blue light stays on as long as the nettle is switched on at the wall."

What does plasric take like?

What does plasric take like?

A bit like plastic but more sweetened.
Cold £14.99 in B&M store and yes the water does taste and the kettle boils so slooow
Hot
Water doesn't taste of plastic in my opinion but people might be surprised to know that the blue LED stays on permanently (unless boiling in which case it's red) and can't be switched off unless you isolate at the mains.
The lid open button and the switch on button are also the wrong way around for me personally and I still can't get used to it.
Wouldn't buy this again if I had the choice.

Bad idea healthwise to be repeatedly boiling drinking water in plastic.

COLD.
But WHY?

But WHY?

The chemicals in plastic leech over time particularly when the plastic is exposed to high temperatures.

Always better to use a stainless steel or glass kettle.

Plastic is okay for occasional use eg. travel kettle on holiday etc, but not for everyday use over many years.

Also this kettle has poor reviews in terms of reliability etc

Non-branded kettle for £18 is a deal? Hold out for a reliable manufacturer. Gimmick products are cheap for a reason...
I have got one & agree that the light staying on all the time is a really bad design flaw - a waste of energy & it's a pain to have to switch it off at the wall all the time. (Not very accessible). Also, it switched itself on to red & started boiling itself dry a few times; took me a while to work out what the smell was! Would not. buy again, would buy a more expensive, better designed & more reliable model in future
Next kettle I get will be 10,000 Watts.

Yep, look at the millions of people who died of plastic poisoning in the 80s and 90s when nearly all kettles were plastic. Even now most kettles have plastic components inside.

You're really not the brightest are you? Look at all the millions of people who die or become disabled in old(er) age due to cancer and thousands of other diseases and medical conditions and ask yourself what lifestyle choices have contributed to that. For example, for many years alot of manufacturers thought that BPA and phthalates were safe. Go and drink a BPA / phthalates solution every day for a decade or feed an endocrine disruptor to your kids and see what happens. Ingest some microplastics while you're at it too and see what happens.

Almost all the plastic ever produced is still here somewhere on the planet in one form or another and will remain here for centuries to come, possibly thousands of years.

No you misunderstand. WHY would anyone want a kettle that changes colour, whether it's made of glass, plastic or fairy poop? I mean what's the point?

Sshhhh...!!
EU regs like the hoover saga will be introduced to limit maximum power to 3.7 candles!!
It'll take a week to get a cup of warm water and fit a mandatory hi-vis jacket on the kettle!!

Oh yeah, that's pretty daft. It might have novelty value if the temperature gradually changed from blue to red as it heated up and stayed red whilst it remained hot, but this kettle doesn't even do that.
Not sure who expired it.

Deal is still active - they simply changed the link:

Still the dumbest, most gimmicky kettle I've seen!

You're welcome, Ignoramus.
I paid 54 pound, years ago for a color changing kettle.
Lasted about a year before it started leaking.

Breville.

Quite common for that brand.

The glass kettle I have now with a blue light was a lot cheaper and is still going after 3 years
but the led light has stopped working.

You can't win either way.
I bought it and I like it, tasteless as I am.
