This is an awesome router and a great price.

With speeds up to 3.2 Gbps, the Archer C3200 enables you to connect all your devices, at the same time without impacting performance. Keep everyone browsing, streaming and gaming at once with a powerful 1 GHz dual-core CPU and three co-processors that multi-task with ease. So you no longer need to choose between gaming online or watching your favourite HD film on your 4K TV, do both at once.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing myself. Although I don't think it is that much better than my R7000 so probably not worth the upgrade. Great price though for someone with a wireless N router with lower specs.

I am looking to replace routing duties on the poor superhub 3. I've always used VM routers before.

Will I see a considerable upgrade in performance with this?

Mainly need good WiFi and support VPN.

m8 anything is better then useless SH3 .. even 15£ router from tesco.

this one will serves you well, just set your SH3 as modem TP-link as router and you are ready to go.

Anyone recommend this over the BT smart hub? I have an Openreach modem to run in tandem. The smart hub is excellent for wifi but very limited features for my needs. Thanks

No open source drivers (openwrt, etc.)

Yeah. Thought so. Main thing is I will be able to port forwarding and VPN properly.

I just wanted to be sure WiFi would be noticeable quicker and better range as well. Any others to consider in this price range?

This router is fully reviewed in this months 'WEBUSER' magazine at £149. It was runner up to a much more expensive TPlink Deco m5 at £249

Lol. VM are sending me a SH3 on Tuesday to replace my SH2. Looks like my SH will be staying in modem mode.

Cancel it and stick with the 2AC! Honestly the 3 is so bad it's untrue. At the very least keep your 2AC and don't send it back.

I have a sh3 .. this got this router and it's amazing... No other router got close

Dunno what's going wrong with this page, I either get a bad gateway error or a DDoS protection screen followed by a page isn't here screen but it doesn't happen on other pages.

"m8 anything is better then useless SH3 .. even 15£ router from tesco."

There was an issue with the SH3 when Virgin released it without the firmware being ready. Later examples saw firmware revisions which fixed these faults and they are now a decent router.

If you are one of the people thinking that the SH3 isn't very good then the chances are you have an early version and should ask virgin to do a firmware update for you which will improve it no end.

This is why some people are saying its fine and others saying its rubbish!

All this is entirely Virgins fault as they should never have released a product before it was fully ready for market.

Yesterday I bought TP-Link AC1600 V2 FOR £94, would you suggest that I should return it and get this?

Mine is about two weeks old, brand new and running latest firmware.

Port forwarding is terrible, the GUI is appaling and VPN simply doesn't work reliably.

Virgin refuse to accept responsibility or replace it with a 2AC.

Otherwise, WiFi seems ok-ish (same as 2AC) and the connection has been reliable.

I think overall it's a dud and cannot understand how or why it was released to market.

I had one of these and sold it 8 months later. Performance is nothing special, WiFi range wasn't great and devices had a habit of connecting but then would timeout on requests to the internet. I contacted TP-Link and they sent me a beta firmware which didn't help. I tried numerous settings and changes but nothing that improved performance. Even wired connections would have issues occasionally.

I replaced it with a second hand Apple Airport Extreme (latest generation) and that has been rock solid ever since. Performance is great, wireless range and reception is exceptional. I haven't touched it months and not had a single glitch. It's connected to BT infinity 3 and delivers over 200Mbps to my desktop.

I wouldn't go near the AC3200 if it was my money.

dude sh3 is rubbish coz is based on faulty Intel Puma 6 chipset, it's fine for casuals and watch some netflix / youtube but for gaming is the worst router on market. Check it yourself, monitor quolity of your connection on thinkbroadband and come abck here and say that joke about sh3 being good. maybe take of an effort and visit virginmedia forum and read about latency issue with SH3 (single treat with over 220 pages), maybe google 'intel puma 6 virgin media' and read before you come here with revelations. The easiest way to proof how pathetic SH3 is, is to monitor your internet with SH2ac and then change for SH3 .. it's a night and day.

this is mine SH3 on router mode from last 24h

Why do men always assume they're talking to other men ?

Dude?

Very interesting...

I was getting fed-up with the Virgin SH3 performance, so just today I got this Router.

It took me about 10mins to setup and wow what a difference a Router makes. At the moment while writing this, updated the firmware and playing around with the settings.

So far, worth every penny.
