Am I the only one who remember when WiFi went around the round the house and the bottom of the garden, without any extender or booster?

I already have a modem router supplied by my ISP. How does this work and how is this connected?

A single one of these is fairly pointless but it could replace your routing and wifi if your modem/router can be put into bridge/modem-only mode. Or just the WiFi. Either way, via an RJ45 ethernet cable.

2.4Ghz had better range, 5Ghz is what most phones and computers use now and is far faster but has less range. There are also more people using WiFi which can cause interference. We also tend to have faster internet speeds and consume content that uses far more bandwidth, even standard web browsing is far heavier than it used to be so a good signal matters more.

If your router or access point has separate 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz SSIDs try the latter, or change its setting to just use the 2.4Ghz radio and see for yourself.
