Hi,

Newbie question around Mesh.

I have a router (sky hub) in the living room, however the wifi does not range well to the Outroom (about 10 metres from the inside router).
1. Would i be able to plug one in to the router and the other one in the outroom?
2. in the outroom i have a security system which has an ethernet cable, would i be able to plug the ethernet cable into this?

TIA
Be aware that this is the 100Mbps wired model. if you want 1Gbps wired you need the M4 model.

I installed some of these at a customers, I turned off the Wifi on the router, plugged this directly into the router the connected the others to the main one in the that was plugged into the router, worked a treat, you don't have to connect these to the other cable but if you do, you can get a mini hub and plug the security system and the mesh network in.
Thanks Pete,

just so i am clear, i can do this:
1. connect sky router to TP Mesh
2. put the additional one in the outroom.
3. connect outroom TP Mesh to the main one (next to the router)
4. connect security system directly to mini hub in outroom.

is that right?
are you also saying that i dont have to actually connect one to the router if i did not want to?

Thanks

You turn the Sky into modem only (turn off wifi) as you dont want a router into another router.
Put your additional TP into your outroom and connect it to the main TP that's going into the Sky modem.

I have BT at home (awful) and did the same using a Netgear Orbi system.
Difference is you cant turn the BT router into a modem only so had to work around that. But same principal, Orbi into modem, another Orbi elsewhere connects back to main Orbi (wired or wifi) and job done.

Make sense?
makes total sense

cheers guys... i think ill have to get one of these
Bought these last time round. Very happy with them.

You don't even have to plug the second one into the wired network if you don't want to.
I put them in an old farmhouse with thick stone walls and just turned the others on around the house and it worked, they are good.
