IEEE 802.11ax ("Wi-Fi 6") routers are already here, although final approval of the standard is still pending (with an expectation of adoption presently slated as "late 2019").

For example:

[ en.wikipedia.org/wik…1ax ]

However, client networking devices (in laptop/desktop PCs, for instance) that support this new standard will not be readily available immediately, so there is still useful life left in the existing Mesh Wi-Fi systems (like the TP-Link product here).
This is a great price for a mid spec system.

I am also toying with the idea of waiting for Wifi 6 / AX but I imagine that those will be so expensive that it's probably better to get this now and wait for the initial price drop.
The gold standard Orbi RBK53 (non AX) is still at least £299 (and that's when it's on offer) so I hate to think what the AX version of the Orbi will cost initially.
Great price. I have this at home and since instalation it's been great.
Great price! I've been using this for around a year now with no problems. I find the parental controls and guest networking features very useful too.
The lack of children moaning about the "rubbish Wifi" after installing this bad boy is worth every penny.
Has worked flawlessly since I installed it a few weeks ago.Fast WiFi everywhere with the option to "port in" at every hub but they don't need to use it.One of my better purchases : Great price, I paid £159 for the same @ Amazon
Do these need power to run?
Also do they have to wired into some sort of ethernet port all the time or just to set up?

Thanks in advance

They all require a power supply. The main unit is plugged in to your current modem/router by ethernet and the other 2 connect wirelessly to it. The 2 satellite units also have 2 ethernet ports.
