TP-Link ER605 (TL-R605) Omada Gigabit VPN Router
The TP-Link ER605 (TL-R605) Gigabit VPN Router is a professional, secure and reliable router. With Omada SDN centralised management, you can remotely access, manage and maintain your ER605, anywhere, anytime.

Key Features
Integrated into Omada SDN
Centralised Cloud Management and Intelligent Monitoring.
Centralised Management
Cloud access and Omada app for ultra convenience and easy management.
Five Gigabit Ports
High-speed wired connectivity.
Up to three (3) WAN Ports
One (1) gigabit WAN port and two (2) gigabit WAN/LAN ports with load balance raise the utilisation rate of multi-line broadband.
Highly Secure VPN
Supports up to 20x LAN-to-LAN IPsec, 16x OpenVPN*, 16x L2TP, and 16x PPTP VPN connections.
Abundant Security Features
Advanced firewall policies, DoS defence, IP/MAC/URL filtering, and more security functions protect your network and data.
Integrated Omada SDN
As the gateway that seamlessly integrates into the Omada Software Defined Networking (SDN) platform, the ER605 allows for remote and centralised management, anywhere, anytime. Standalone management via the Web UI or app is also available to maximise convenience.

Hassle-free centralised cloud management
100% centralised cloud management of whole network from different sites — all controlled from a single interface anywhere, anytime.

Up to three WAN gigabit ports
Two (2) freely interchangeable ports allow the router to support up to three (3) WAN ports for various Internet access requirements. The multi-WAN Load Balancing function distributes data streams according to the bandwidth proportion of every WAN port to raise the utilisation rate of multi-line broadband. Mobile broadband via 4G/3G modem by connecting to the USB port is also supported for WAN backup.

High-Security and High-Performance VPN
The ER605 supports IPSec/PPTP/L2TP VPN over IPSec/SSL protocols. One-click auto IPSec VPN greatly simplifies VPN configuration and facilitates network management and deployment. It also secures and encrypts private site-to-site data communications travelling over the internet. This version improves VPN performance by 4–5 times thanks to the open line of communication with Omada's user base.

Advanced firewall policies protect your network and data.
IP/MAC/URL Filtering
Forcefully prevent viruses and attacks from intruders.
Convenient VLAN Support
Create virtual network segments for enhanced security and simplified network management.

One-Click ALG Activation
One-Click ALG Activation for applications such as FTP, H323, SIP, IPSec and PPTP.
Internet access management strategy
Standardise users’ online behaviour and easily specify the internet access rights and strategies of employees via IP/MAC/URL Filtering and Access Control List (ACL). Captive Portal authentication facilitates network resource control by capturing, authenticating, and classifying user access. Appropriate network resources can also be allocated for particular users or guests.

Easy management with the Omada app
Follow configuration instructions on the free Omada app to get set up in minutes. Omada lets you configure settings, monitor the network status and manage clients, all from the convenience of a smart phone or tablet.

Standard Warranty: Limited Lifetime
*These functions requires the use of Omada Hardware Controller, Software Controller, or Cloud-Based Controller

Don't buy this if you're looking to set up a simple standalone OpenVPN or client connection with a provider such as NordVPN, ExpressVPN, etc as there is no option in the firmware user menus for doing so. You would need to get involved in tunnelling and editing connection files and the like.

There is free controller software that runs on your local network, and it will run standalone.
I have the V1 of this and it's a very capable little device. I can get pipe from my gig fibre
